Beijing, 5 Mar (China News Service) -- How can we make the vast volumes of ancient books out of the "deep boudoir pavilion" and integrate into the lives of modern people, so that they can be alive and alive? Chen Tianzhu, deputy to the National People's Congress and vice president of Reader Magazine, suggested in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Service on the 4th that publishing houses, libraries, museums, and cultural preservation institutions should strengthen cooperation and make ancient books benefit readers in a more convenient way and live in the present on the basis of digitization.

"Collection" and "use" are the two ends that need to be balanced in the protection and utilization of ancient books. Chen Tianzhu, who has been working with writing for many years, is very concerned about the activation and utilization of ancient Chinese books.

Gansu is a province with large resources of ancient books, mainly including hand-me-down classics, gold and stone documents, Dunhuang documents, simple documents, official and private archives of previous dynasties, etc. Chen Tianzhu said that the survey found that Gansu still faces many difficulties in the revitalization and development of ancient books. For example, it is difficult to inventory ancient book resources, especially those stored in cities and counties; The degree of openness of high-level ancient book resources is insufficient, and the degree of digitization is not high.

In recent years, the Chinese government has successively issued the "Opinions on Promoting the Work of Ancient Books in the New Era" and the "National Work Plan for Ancient Books from 2021 to 2035".

There are a large number of ancient books in China, and it is necessary to intensify research and excavation. Chen Tianzhu suggested that first of all, we should sort out and present the history of Chinese ancient book culture involving the carrier of words, as well as the history of the inheritance of ancient books themselves, including the history of publishing, printing, and communication; Secondly, it is necessary to dig deep into high-quality content, select it from the perspective of content dissemination, and disseminate it in various forms.

Chen Tianzhu said: The rapid development of information technology has created good conditions and provided infinite possibilities for the activation and utilization of ancient books. During the Spring Festival this year, the Gansu Bamboo Slips Museum, the Gansu Provincial Museum and the Lanzhou Museum launched a large-scale museum cultural cross-border activity of "three museums linkage", with the help of science and technology, the scene is reproduced, so that the characters of the bamboo slips can be "lived", and the general public is attracted to approach the bamboo slips and enter history.

Chen Tianzhu suggested that in the future, derivative peripheral products can also be made based on the form and content of ancient books, and new technologies can be used to display ancient books and create relevant scenes; Publish books, record ** interpretation courses, hold exhibitions and special ancient book experience activities, and shorten the distance between ancient books and readers online and offline.

When it comes to the cooperation of all parties involved in the digitization of ancient books, in Chen Tianzhu's view, "the publishing house has a lot to offer, it is not only the publisher and disseminator of the research results, but also the inheritor and promoter of ancient book culture."

Chen Tianzhu said that the eight book publishing houses under the Reader Publishing Group have done a lot of work in sorting out and publishing ancient books based on Gansu's characteristic cultural resources, which has effectively promoted the further development and utilization of Gansu's ancient book resources. At present, the group is working with relevant parties to accelerate the digitization construction and miniature photocopying of Wenshu Pavilion's "Siku Quanshu", and make every effort to promote major ancient book publishing projects such as "Gansu Tibetan Dunhuang Documents".

Chen Tianzhu said that this year, around the activation and utilization of Wenshu Pavilion's "Siku Quanshu", the Reader Publishing Group will also jointly develop a series of cultural and creative products with the Gansu Provincial Library, develop micro-short dramas, short screens, and build relevant databases, so that ancient books can be connected with modern life and live in the present.
