After graduating from university at the end of the 50th century of the 20th century, Wei Jizhong was assigned to work in the National Sports Commission, which is now the State General Administration of Sports.
In the following decades, he has never left China's "sports track", because he is a witness to the rise of sports in China, and he is also a witness in the journey of building a sports power in China, he can be called an important figure in the history of sports in China, as the "father of China's sports industry", has a certain right to speak and influence.
But such a senior senior is known as a "wicked person" in my country's sports world. Many people said that he had done a lot of bad things, such as squeezing out Lang Ping, Liu Guoliang, etc. What's going on?
Embark on the path of sports.
Wei Jizhong was later interviewed by reporters and talked about his relationship with sports, and he used an adjective - "yin and yang".
Wei Jizhong was born on November 12, 1936 in Shanghai, China, on the 70th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth.
Wei Jizhong entered Shanghai Nanyang Model High School in junior high school, and his class later produced three academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the most common thing they did between classes was to ask the teacher for teaching questions, but the young Wei Jizhong chose another way to spend his spare time, that is, to play ball.
Wei Jizhong's favorite is basketball, he is 1.8 meters tall, at first he was expected by the physical education teacher, but unfortunately his shooting accuracy is not high, and then he had no choice but to change to softball, volleyball, unexpectedly joined the school team, and achieved good results in many games.
It also led him to take a greater interest in sports.
In 1954, Wei Jizhong was admitted to Nanjing University, and after entering the school, the Physical Education Department of Nanjing University learned about his past experience in joining the school team and participating in the competition, so it recommended him to the volleyball team of Nanjing University and became the main player of the team.
Wei Jizhong seized this opportunity well and played the Nanjing City team and Jiangsu Province volleyball team one after another.
Because of this, when he was about to graduate in 1958, the president of NTU specially approached him to talk, saying that there were two units that were very willing to accept him, one was the sports department and the other was the People's Literature Publishing House, and asked him to choose where to go.
Wei Jizhong's university major was French literature, and according to normal circumstances, the publishing house was a very suitable place for him. But Wei Jizhong finally chose the sports department based on his interests and was arranged to work in the International Department of the National Sports Commission.
Since then, his hobby has become his job, and the rest of his life has been inseparable from sports.
In the beginning, Wei Jizhong played the role of a translator at the National Sports Commission, often traveling to host foreign teams.
When the country holds the National Games, and many countries come to watch, he is in charge of the reception in the protocol department, and when he needs to represent the country to participate in the international games, he will also shoulder most of the logistics and reception work.
Wei Jizhong has worked in the National Sports Commission for 37 years, from a staff member of the International Department to a deputy director, a director, and then a director, it can be said that he has seized the opportunity of national sports development and personal development, and has also made real efforts.
As a matter of fact, as early as the 70 s of the 20 th century, Deng Gong, who was temporarily in charge of economic and sports work at that time, gave guidance to China's sports work, proposing that we should not continue to confront the International Olympic Committee, but should actively seek to join the big Olympic family and drive out the Taiwan authorities.
At that time, according to Deng Gong's instructions, including Wei Jizhong, all the staff of the State Sports Commission took this direction and embarked on a long road of negotiation.
During this period, Wei Jizhong actively sought to increase his influence in the international arena, first finding the opportunity to join the FIVB Review Committee, and then becoming the president of the FIVB in 1984, and then using the help of Samaranch, who became the president of the IOC with the support of China, to find ways to pave the way for China's Olympic Games.
The State Sports Commission also has high hopes for Wei Jizhong.
In 1986, Wei Jizhong was appointed secretary general of the Chinese Olympic Committee, and in 1990 he was assigned an important task, which was to preside over and participate in the bid for the 2000 Olympic Games.
Although Beijing later lost to Sydney by two votes, and China's bid for the Olympics ended in failure, Wei Jizhong continued to accumulate energy after regret and self-blame, and helped facilitate the successful bid for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in 2001.
At that time, he was over 60 years old, and he had long since reached the age when he should retire. In fact, as early as 1997, he had already proposed to "give up his position to future generations", and with the consent of the State Sports Commission, he retired from the leadership position.
However, the leaders of the State Sports Commission still hope that he can continue to shoulder the work of sports development in some countries, and on the one hand ask him to act as a consultant and "contribute some personal empirical opinions" to the preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games, and on the other hand, he is asked to take the lead in setting up a sports industry company to try to explore the development path of China's sports industry in the economic field and strive to maintain and appreciate the value of state-owned assets.
In this way, Wei Jizhong had to be the chairman of the newly established China Sports Industry Group Co., Ltd. for two terms, until he was getting older and older, and he was really powerless, in 2005, at the age of 69, he was able to retire to the second line as a consultant for the company, and to a certain extent, "embraced his retirement life".
Crowd out Lang Ping. Before his retirement, Wei Jizhong's reputation in the Chinese sports world has always been very good, but after retirement, because he repeatedly relied on his past qualifications to make irresponsible remarks and interfere in the development of the sports world, causing some bad situations.
One of the things that Wei Jizhong was criticized for was the exclusion of Lang Ping.
It was the beginning of 2017, at the critical moment of the selection of the coach of the Chinese women's volleyball team in the new Olympic cycle. Many people think that he is well aware of his own energy, so he will deliberately concoct remarks at this time and point his sword at Lang Ping.
It turned out that although Lang Ping, as the current head coach of the Chinese women's volleyball team, led the Chinese women's volleyball team to achieve good results at home and abroad, Wei Jizhong did not regard these as Lang Ping's achievements, but thought that this was the ability that the members of the women's volleyball team should have.
Therefore, he suggested that the Volleyball Association should not renew Lang Ping's contract, and should give the opportunity to other backup coaches.
Although the leaders of the Platoon Association did not follow Wei Jizhong's suggestion to terminate the contract with Lang Ping, after Wei Jizhong's speech spread, many people were optimistic and appreciative of Lang Ping, and they were dissatisfied with him, thinking that he was "a layman who prefers to guide an insider" and "a nosy man after retirement".
The reason why some people say that Wei Jizhong is "a layman who prefers to guide an insider" is because when the women's volleyball team was selected in the last Olympic cycle, Wei Jizhong also tried to use his own remarks to interfere in the results of the coach selection.
That time, he successfully squeezed out the Olympic champion coach Chen Zhonghe and arranged the young coach Cai Bin, whom he admired, but the end was that the Chinese women's volleyball team repeatedly regressed, and it "degenerated" from the original first-class team to a second-rate team.
During that time, Wei Jizhong caused a lot of boos.
Suppress Liu Guoliang.
After squeezing out Lang Ping, Wei Jizhong is also believed to have suppressed Liu Guoliang, the head coach of national table tennis.
The same happened in 2017. In that year, the national table tennis began to flatten the reform, and it was decided to cancel the positions of head coach and head coach, and set up separate heads of male and female coaching staff.
This also means that after the reform, if head coach Liu Guoliang still wants to continue to stay in the national table tennis, he can only be directly "demoted" to serve as the head of the men's coaching staff. Liu Guoliang thought that such a change was not in line with his own career plan, and after careful consideration, he officially submitted his resignation and left the national table tennis.
It's just that because of the suddenness of the incident, many national table tennis players don't know the truth, and they misunderstand that Liu Guoliang was suppressed, such as Ma Long, Xu Xin, Fan Zhendong and others even expressed their collective withdrawal at the Chinese Table Tennis Championships, which has caused a lot of negative impact in the world.
Afterwards. Ma Long and others were punished by the Table Tennis Association and could not participate in international competitions for 3 months.
The withdrawal of national table tennis has caused a heated discussion in China, and Wei Jizhong naturally paid attention to it. He was very angry when he heard about it, and soon publicly made a series of remarks criticizing Ma Long and others.
Wei Jizhong mentioned that Ma Long and others "may have been instigated behind their backs", and it is difficult not to think that he was suspicious of Liu Guoliang. After all, Ma Long and others withdrew from the competition** because they mistakenly thought that Liu Guoliang was treated unfairly, and deliberately wanted to express their attitude on such an important and public occasion to build momentum for Liu Guoliang.
Wei Jizhong suspected that they would do this, and it was probably deliberately arranged by Liu Guoliang, who felt that Liu Guoliang was dissatisfied with the reform of national table tennis and felt that he had been treated badly so he instigated Ma Long and others to withdraw from the competition.
Wei Jizhong pointed the finger directly at Liu Guoliang, which naturally caused dissatisfaction among fans who had a good impression of Liu Guoliang.
More people actually appreciate the approach of Ma Long and others, thinking that although their collective withdrawal is impulsive, it just shows that they value Liu Guoliang, the "master".
They knew that Ma Long and others did the thing, but they felt that Wei Jizhong was obviously not aware of the truth, so they said that someone was instigating behind his back, obviously trying to suppress Liu Guoliang.
After all, as soon as these words came out, the relevant leaders would also be suspicious of Liu Guoliang. If they have a negative impression of Liu Guoliang, it will directly affect the subsequent appointment of Liu Guoliang.
It can be said that Wei Jizhong "spread rumors with one mouth", but Liu Guoliang wants to "refute rumors and break his legs", they will definitely not think that Wei Jizhong has good intentions towards Liu Guoliang, and naturally call him a "wicked person".
Today, Wei Jizhong is 88 years old, but he is still alive and well maintained. Many people just hope that he can live his retirement life well and stop making irresponsible remarks that affect the work and life of others.
