IT Home reported on March 6 that Microsoft recently announced that the Windows Subsystem (WSA) and Amazon Appstore for Android will no longer be available in the Microsoft Store after March 5, 2025.
Microsoft will end support for Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). Starting March 5, 2025, the Amazon Appstore on Windows and all WSA-dependent apps and games will no longer be supported. Until then, technical support will continue to be provided to customers. Customers who installed Amazon Appstore or Android apps before March 5, 2024 will continue to have access to these apps until the March 5, 2025 deprecation date.
At the same time, Amazon also issued a notice. Starting March 6, 2024, the Amazon Appstore will no longer be available for Microsoft Store** on Windows 11 devices. After March 5, 2025, the Amazon Store** on Windows 11 and any apps from it** will not be supported.
Amazon says that despite this change, the Amazon Appstore will continue to provide support on Fire TV, Fire Tablet, and Android devices.
As previously reported by IT House, Microsoft announced in September 2021 that it would allow companies such as Epic Games, Amazon, and others to integrate their app stores into the Microsoft Store in order to provide more options for third-party developers.
Microsoft says it aims to be an "open store for open platforms," where the Windows Store no longer requires app developers to share revenue with Microsoft while apps manage their own in-app payment systems.
