My family's Spring Festival.

Wen Zhang Jun.

My family's Spring Festival, like all families in the world, whether rich or poor, is spent in a happy and peaceful atmosphere, in a busy and orderly rhythm.

I remember when I was a child, I was not rich at that time, but before the lunar month, my parents were busy for the Spring Festival. Parents rarely buy new clothes for the Chinese New Year, but they must add clothes, shoes and hats neatly for our brothers and sisters. My mother pulled cloth from the supply and marketing cooperatives in the village or the department store in the county town and took us to the tailor-made clothes in the tailor shop. Although such clothes look ordinary now, the joy of wearing new clothes can accompany us for a New Year's Day, a year, and a whole childhood ......

As soon as the moon enters, there are more small merchants and vendors who come to the village to sell goods in horse-drawn carriages from other places, such as black dates and peanuts in Guannan, soybeans and noodles on the dam. Since people don't have much cash, they say they are selling goods, but they are actually bartering for grain. My mother would take out some of the food she usually saved and exchange it for some of these New Year's goods, which made our New Year a lot happier. New Year's paintings and window flowers are also a must, and paper is also bought to write couplets. In the first few years, there were very few lanterns hanging in people's homes, so my father used red paper to paste two lamp bowls and light them on Chinese New Year's Eve. Later, it became fashionable to use wire-welded lanterns, and lanterns were hung up in our house.

Although it was rare to see some meat in a year at that time, our family also had to buy one or two pounds of pork every Spring Festival, and eating buckwheat noodles and dumplings on the evening of the Chinese New Year's Eve and eating meat dumplings at noon on the second day of the first lunar month were old traditions for the New Year and our hopes for the past year. A few years ago, when my father came back from out of town, he would buy me a cannon every time, the kind of one hundred and two hundred shots. I put the cannons on the stove barrel early, and carefully dismantled the cannons of the kang, and the New Year sounded one by one, and the whole New Year was so simple and happy.

In the 70s of the last century, because of the lack of electricity, although every household in our village was chained to electric lights, there was no electricity on weekdays, and kerosene pots were lit at night. In the past few days of the Chinese New Year, the electricians have turned on the electricity, and when the 15-watt light bulb is lit, I feel that the whole world has become a better place.

On the morning of the first day of the first lunar month, my father would go to the yard early to light a fire and light a cannon, and when I was younger, I would look at the glass of the window, and when I was older, I would also go to the yard and light a fire with my father.

Later, when I grew up, and with my parents who had been listening to me for many years, and a lot of preparation work became my job. Later, I married a wife, had children, and started a family, but I never fooled around during the Spring Festival every year. I will do all the New Year's goods with my wife before the year, hang lanterns and paste couplets, I take a box ruler to measure the distance, and hang the stickers in a regular and neat manner. I think we must treat life, tradition, and the Spring Festival with awe.

Now, every year on the morning of New Year's Day, just like my father, I get up early and light firecrackers in the yard. When my child was a child, he shared these joys on the glass of the window of his home, and when he got older, he lit firecrackers with me every year, just as I did when I was older. Maybe in a few years, he has his own family and children, and this scene will continue to play out. In ordinary days, because of these festivals, ordinary people's lives have rhythm, hope, and frustration. Say it from the bottom of my heart: The Spring Festival is so good, life is so good.
