"Hidden" is a horror movie starring Alexander Skarsgård, Andrea Reesborog, Emily Arlene Lind, etc., directed and written by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, released in the United States on September 15, 2015.
Hiding is a movie that tells the story of a family of three surviving after a disaster. Ray (played by Alexander Skarsgård) and his wife Claire (played by Andrea Rysborog) and their seven-year-old daughter Zoe (played by Emily Arlene Lind) find a place to take refuge, where they spend 301 days of underground life. They may be the only survivors on Earth, as the "Breathing Monster" is a catastrophic being that can appear at any time, forbidden to mention, as if it were a demon capable of destroying their shelter.
In this shelter, they face various survival challenges, including food shortages, emotional out-of-control, and more. They must follow strict rules such as not mentioning monsters' names, not losing control of their emotions, not opening doors and going out, etc., in order to keep them alive. However, one unexpected situation after another arises, and they have to face reality and eventually escape the shelter and return to the outside world.
The film's core themes are humanity, survival, and loneliness. The heroine shows a strong desire to survive at the beginning of the film and shows excellent fishing and hunting skills. She is always vigilant and wary of the outside world, while also enjoying a life in close contact with nature. However, her lonely life is shattered by an unexpected visitor, triggering a series of tense and dramatic episodes. The arrival of this visitor confronts the heroine with a moral and existential choice, where she must decide whether to enjoy the resources alone and remain alone, or to share them with the visitor and take risks.
Through superb acting and tense plots, the movie makes the audience think deeply about themes such as human nature, survival, and loneliness. It challenges our perceptions of morality and humanity, while also making us think about human behavior and choices in extreme circumstances. The climax of the film is a tense conflict scene in which the heroine must make a choice, a choice that makes the film's themes more distinct: the choice between survival and morality, and the complexity of human nature.
