The total strength of an army group

Mondo Military Updated on 2024-03-01

The group army is a campaign unit, a basic campaign corps, and a composite unit of all arms. Under normal circumstances, a group army has six composite brigades under its jurisdiction and one brigade each from other arms of the armed forces, such as an army aviation brigade, an armored brigade, an air defense brigade, an artillery brigade, and an industrial and chemical brigade. A group army has about 12 brigades under its jurisdiction, and different brigades undertake different tasks.

After the new round of military reform in 2016, the number of Chinese People's Liberation Army group armies has been reduced from 18 to 13, and the strength of each newly formed group army is roughly about 60,000.

The size of the army group will vary depending on the country and the time period
