The situation in Ukraine has been going on for two years since Russia launched its "special military operation" against Ukraine on February 24, 2022. However, due to the intervention of the West, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has not ended. Under these circumstances, China has decided to take action and actively promote a political settlement of the Ukraine issue.

In order to resolve the Ukraine crisis, China** sent its special representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, to carry out shuttle diplomacy, and plans to visit Russia, EU headquarters, Poland, Ukraine, Germany and France on March 2 to carry out diplomatic activities on a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis.

Shuttle diplomacy refers to the frequent travel between different countries, negotiations, mediation, consultations and other diplomatic activities to resolve international disputes. This style of diplomacy requires diplomats to possess high negotiation skills and diplomatic skills in order to communicate and negotiate effectively between countries.

Mao Ning, a spokesman for China, said that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has lasted for two years, and the most urgent task at present is to restore peace and start peace talks. China is ready to play a constructive role in achieving that goal.

Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, China has been committed to easing the crisis in Ukraine through various measures. Specifically:

First of all, China** released the "China's Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Crisis" document, which elaborated on China's solutions, including respecting the sovereignty of all countries, abandoning the Cold War mentality, ceasefire, starting peace talks, providing humanitarian assistance, ensuring the safety of nuclear power plants, ensuring food security and other key issues, and proposing concrete ways to resolve the crisis.

Second, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, has repeatedly spoken at open meetings of the UN Security Council on the Ukraine issue, emphasizing the need for the international community to work together to promote a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis. He called on all parties to refrain from actions that would worsen the situation and to create favourable conditions for political peace talks.

Third, China proposes that the international community act together to establish an international coordination mechanism for a political settlement, and calls for a moratorium on actions that exacerbate tensions in the process of resolving the crisis.

Fourth, China's special envoy Li Hui will hold diplomatic mediation with all relevant parties to actively promote international consensus and bring all parties back to the track of political settlement. This is the second time that China has sent a representative to conduct shuttle diplomacy, demonstrating China's determination to resolve the Ukraine issue.

Although Ukrainian parliamentarians have threatened to support the United States in fighting against China and other countries, China still insists on making unremitting efforts for the cause of peace in Ukraine. Ukraine's move may escalate tensions, but China will not change its stance and continue to work for regional peace.

As the Russia-Ukraine war progresses, Ukraine will face greater challenges. While Ukraine may want NATO's support, divisions within NATO make this less and less likely. Ukraine may eventually have to seek support from other countries, including China.

Currently, the situation in Ukraine is becoming increasingly tense. Recently, Zelensky relieved the commander-in-chief of Ukraine Zaluzhny from his post, a move that led to a certain advantage for the Russian army on the battlefield. Avdeyevka was captured by the Russian army, the Ukrainian army had to retreat on all fronts, and Ukraine fell into a serious crisis of defeat.

Not only that, but the internal political situation in Ukraine is extremely unstable, and there is even the possibility of a coup d'état. Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov criticized Zelensky's illegal postponement and accused him of cowardice and incompetence. The opposition has also expressed dissatisfaction with Zelensky, believing that desperate servicemen are likely to rise up and fight back, as they are deeply disappointed with the status quo. At the moment, the will to fight of the Ukrainian army has reached an unprecedented low, especially with no hope of victory. Once the civil war breaks out, Zelensky will have a hard time controlling the anger of the Ukrainian people.

At the same time, Russia has not only achieved victory on the battlefield, but has also received strong support from Iran. It is reported that Iran has supplied Russia with a large number of surface-to-surface ballistic missiles, including precision-guided missiles. This means that Russia can intensify its fire suppression of Ukraine at any time. How long can Ukraine hold out in this situation? In the event of defeat, will Ukraine be able to afford Russia's conditions?

Therefore, at this critical juncture, China is willing to contribute to Ukraine's peace efforts. Ukraine should seize this rare opportunity for peace talks and avoid missing the best solution because of prejudice.
