Wang Yi: China will further implement a visa-free policy for six countries, including Switzerland.
This morning (March 7), the Second Session of the 14th National People's Congress held a press conference. Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and head of the Communist Party of China, answered questions from Chinese and foreign reporters on issues related to "China's foreign policy and foreign relations".
Wang Yi: Economic diplomacy is also an important part of our external work, and we will continue to roll out measures to facilitate people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries, including more payment facilitation. I would like to tell you that starting from March 14, China will further implement the visa-free policy for Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg on a trial basis. We will also organize more "local visits by envoys to China" to build more bridges for local governments and enterprises to open up and cooperate. We are willing to cooperate with the competent authorities to promote the signing of more high-standard free trade agreements, expand the network of free zones facing the world, and maintain the stability and smoothness of the global industrial chain and data chain. We will work together to run international cooperation platforms such as the CIIE, CIFTIS, CICG and Chain Expo, optimize the market-oriented, law-based and international business environment, and bring more stable expectations and long-term benefits to investors and partners from all over the world.

From March 14 to November 30, 2024, holders of ordinary passports from the above-mentioned countries can enter China visa-free for business, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends and transiting through the border for no more than 15 days. Those who do not meet the visa exemption conditions from the above-mentioned countries still need to apply for a visa to China before entering the country.
