In the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Cao Yuhai, a native of Junan County, Shandong, won a special meritorious service, but unfortunately, he failed to survive the battlefield.
At that time, Cao Yuhai's only relative was his sister-in-law Wang Yuehua. However, after the war, Wang Yuehua was subjected to white eyes and cynicism, which made people feel very heartbroken.
Forty-nine years later, the troops suddenly visited Cao Yuhai's hometown, which shocked the villagers with her deeds. What is Cao Yuhai's experience? Why did her sister-in-law endure the ridicule of others?
In October 1950, there was fierce fighting on the Korean battlefield, and with the entry of the "United **" led by the United States, the situation on the battlefield was reversed.
Resist US aggression and aid Korea, defend the homeland. Cao Yuhai, a native of Junan County, Shandong Province, had performed well on the battlefield of resistance against Japan, and was later seriously wounded in a counter-sweeping battle, but fortunately his life was not in serious trouble.
In June 1949, Cao Yuhai was transferred to Wuhan Prison and served as the prison director. After the outbreak of the Korean War, he took the initiative to ask Ying to go into battle, but considering his just ** body, his superiors refused his request.
However, fate seems to play a joke on him, and the troops he once served passed through Wuhan on their way to Korea. Cao Yuhai came to the division headquarters again and said resolutely: "I am an orphan, if something happens, there will be fewer people to worry about, please let me go to the battlefield!" ”
Cao Yuhai is not an orphan in the true sense of the word, he has a sister-in-law who depends on him for his life. His sincere feelings touched his superiors, and he was able to return to the 114th Battalion of the 342nd Regiment of the 2nd Division as the battalion commander, which was changed to the 38th Battalion of the 9th Regiment of the 3rd Division of the 2nd Army after entering Korea.
On October 25, 1950, Cao Yuhai went to the Korean front with a large army, and on November 2, in the first battle, he led his soldiers to successfully annihilate a battalion of enemy troops, and also cooperated with his brother troops to successfully capture five American advisers.
It is worth mentioning that this is the first batch of US ** officers captured by the Volunteers after entering the Korean War. Later, Cao Yuhai participated in four large-scale battles, and in the first battle, he successfully attacked the enemy's position.
Interestingly, at that time, the US troops were still drinking and dancing on their own, and Cao Yuhai led the soldiers of the 2nd Battalion by surprise and successfully killed more than 100 American devils.
On the evening of November 29, Cao Yuhai successfully captured two enemy artillery positions in the second battle, took Yang Station, eliminated more than 600 enemies and captured a large number of ** equipment.
In the third campaign, the goal of the Volunteer Army was to break through the "38th parallel", and Cao Yuhai's 1st battalion undertook the most dangerous assault mission.
In the bitter cold of New Year's Day in 1951, the enemy positions of"Impregnable"The gesture made everyone daunting. However, in front of the 1st Battalion commanded by Cao Yuhai, these became flat.
They managed to crush the enemy's lair, not only capturing a large amount of ** ammunition, but also unexpectedly harvesting more than 30 cars. With its excellent fighting style and heroic combat spirit, Cao Yuhai's unit obtained"Iron Army"and he himself is honorifically called"Steel battalion commander"。
On the battlefield, the frontline stormtroopers tend to take the greatest risks. In the Fourth Campaign to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Cao Yuhai forged ahead bravely, unfortunately encountered an accident, and sacrificed his precious life for the great cause of defending the country with heroic deeds.
The battle took place from January 25 to April 21, 1951, and the Volunteers and the Korean People's Army worked hand in hand to withstand the powerful offensive of the so-called "United **" and fully prepared for a major counterattack.
In this process, Cao Yuhai's 1st Battalion experienced a fierce battle, and their heroic performance made us deeply admire.
At dawn on February 12, 1951, the 1st U.S. Cavalry Division attacked 350 with the strength of one regiment3 heights, at the same time aircraft and tanks also worked in tandem, shells rained down, and the fortifications of our positions were razed to the ground.
In the face of such a powerful offensive, Cao Yuhai decisively ordered the soldiers to save every bullet and wait until the enemy approached. In this way, after six consecutive fierce battles, we successfully repelled the enemy's attack and guarded the security of our positions.
Cao Yuhai led more than 20 fighters and persisted in fighting until dusk, carrying grenades on their backs, ready to give the enemy a deadly counterattack in the last moments of their lives. However, tragedy struck during the seventh offensive of the enemy.
The enemy's troops were only more than 50 meters away from their positions, and Cao Yuhai and his fighters did not hesitate to rush out of the trenches and fire fiercely at the enemy with machine guns.
Cao Yuhai's heroic sacrifice bought precious time for our army and exchanged his life for the safety of the position. His last words made us deeply feel his determination and tenacity.
Under his leadership, his battalion structure eliminated the largest number of enemies, demonstrating the bravery and determination of the volunteers. Although he died, his spirit lives on and is an example for us to learn from.
Cao Yuhai performed well in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, won special merits, and became a hero. However, his sister-in-law in his hometown suffered from the cynicism and white eyes of the villagers because of his exploits.
The ins and outs of all this make people wonder. Cao Yuhai was born in 1923 in Lipo Township, Junan County, Shandong Province, his family was extremely poor, but fate did not sympathize with him because of his poverty.
Cao Xingzhong was Cao Yuhai's father, who was killed by the landlord because he couldn't pay the rent, leaving the family without its main breadwinner. When Cao Yuhai was nine years old, he was herding sheep for the landlord, but his mother died of illness, and he could only rely on his grandfather and grandmother for his life.
Soon after, the Japanese army invaded the Yimeng Mountains, and my grandfather was brutally stabbed to death by sweeping Japanese soldiers while working in the fields.
When Cao Yuhai was 16 years old, her sister-in-law Wang Yuehua's marriage was like a dawn, and she was diligent and capable, so that the family gradually regained its vitality. After 49 years of waiting and suffering, she finally witnessed the "redemption" of her family.
Although Cao Jia was tortured by the oppression of the landlords and the brutality of the Japanese army, with Wang Yuehua's company, they had the strength to move on.
In the spring when everything is recovering, wild vegetables grow wantonly, and Wang Yuehua picks up the vegetable basket and carefully digs each one. When the leaves are lush, she picks them carefully, preserving nature's gift into the winter.
In the hot summer, she uses her spare time to knit warm cloth shoes for her family, and when winter comes, she will take the opportunity to weave clothes so that the whole family will not suffer from the cold.
It can be said that no matter what season it is, Wang Yuehua's diligence and wisdom are silently paying, making life full of love and warmth.
In January 1943, the 2nd Brigade of the Shandong Column of the Eighth Route Army was stationed in Junan County. Cao Yuhai knew that the mission of the Eighth Route Army was to annihilate the Japanese invaders, and the goal of the Communist Party was to bring the well-being of all mankind.
The night before enlistment, Wang Yuehua stayed up late to sew a pair of cloth shoes, and on the day of parting, she boiled the few eggs she had at home.
Cao Yuhai carried a bag of eggs on his back, stepped on new cloth shoes, and started a new journey. Wang Yuehua was deeply worried about when the battle would end and whether he could return safely.
So, she pinned her hopes on her lips and shouted loudly: "Win the battle quickly, come back safely, our whole family is waiting for you!" ”
On the battlefield of resistance against Japan, Cao Yuhai showed a heroic and fearless fighting spirit, and resolutely returned to the battlefield even if he was seriously injured. In the 1944 Battle of Longgu Mountain and the Battle of Chongluo Mountain, he won honor for the country with his outstanding combat ability and brave spirit, so he was awarded the title of "Battle Hero".
However, the war did not stop, and in June 1949, Cao Yuhai was wounded again in the Battle of Yichang, Jiangxi. Although he was seriously injured, he did not give up after recuperation, but chose to obey the organization's arrangement and transferred to Wuhan Prison as a prison warden, continuing to contribute to the country's cause of peace.
After the outbreak of the Korean War, although Cao Yuhai had only changed jobs for a few months, he did not hesitate to give up the opportunity to go home to visit his relatives and devote himself to the ranks of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea.
However, fate was merciless, and he died heroically in the fourth battle at the age of 28. While cleaning up his belongings, we found a letter from his fiancée and a pair of pillowcases embroidered with "Never Change Your Heart."
Cao Yuhai fell in love with ** in the hospital, and the troops informed him of the news of his sacrifice in a tactful way. After the end of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Wang Yuehua hoped to meet her brother-in-law, but she did not know that Cao Yuhai had died.
The villagers rumored that Wang Yuehua was the martyr's sister-in-law, but they were sneering.
Although Wang Yuehua was sad in her heart, she controlled her emotions strongly, did not argue with others, and just cried silently alone. Finally, in April 1997, after the investigation of the 38th Army and the assistance of relevant departments, after three years of hard work, Wang Yuehua finally got in touch.
The reason why the investigation took so long was because the address was wrong, and the letters were mistakenly delivered to the place that originally belonged to Junan County.
Although 49 years have passed since the martyrdom of Cao Yuhai, Wang Yuehua is still extremely proud when she learns that he is a "combat hero" and a "special meritorious hero".
It is gratifying that his deeds have not been forgotten, and his heroic story has inspired countless Chinese sons and daughters, and his spirit will always be inherited and carried forward.
