IEEE VIS 2024 short** should focus on concise research contributions, incremental work such as subsequent expansion, evaluation of existing methods, replication of research, or exploratory work. Documents describing new systems or tools of practical value are also welcome.
Short stories** typically fall into one of five main categories: technology or algorithm, system or tool, applied or design research, empirical research, theory or model. The contribution of each article should be consistent with its nature. The technical or arithmetic document should provide a clear and concise technical contribution. The system or tool** should explain its value, target audience, and work to improve accessibility. Those who focus on visualization application or design research should present lessons learned or insights gained from visualization research. Empirical research** should demonstrate the validity and importance of the results, including defining assumptions, tasks, data sets, rigorous data collection, analysis, coding, selection of topics and cases, and validation, discussion, and conclusions. Theories or models** should explain how visualization techniques can harness the properties of human vision and cognition, and illustrate how researchers can conduct effective and rigorous visualization studies.
