Exhibition Foreword
"Art is not a sublime landing. ”
- Badiou
Art is a soft landing. Softness is a gesture, an artist's method of capturing and collaging emotions. Landing is a process, a return of the soft creator to the earth. In both the Eastern and Western civilizational traditions, the earth is a symbol of femininity, a soft and true home, all-encompassing, carrying all things. "Shuowen" cloud "kun, earth also", just as the Greeks worshipped Gaia, the god of the earth, as the mother of the gods. The poetess Sinboska fantasized about being Vermeer, saying: "I can land softly on the green grass".
The connection between women and aesthetics has changed throughout the history of civilization. The group exhibition of Xu Jing, Liu Jialing, Yi Yajing, Hu Nan and Yang Yi presented a "soft landing" this March, in which the folds of soft rice paper are the texture of linen and the static electricity generated by the fibers of woven bags touching the air. Softness is a concrete practice of female artists. This exhibition points to a true female stance, and the five female artists present not a symbolic identity politics, no need to separate positions by gender, just a soft landing is enough to connect each specific person, and complete the aesthetic imagination from heaven to earth.
Form and material, truth and position, perception and idea flow.
Produced by Bright Spot Cultural and Creative Park, hosted by Snow Lotus Highlight Art Center, and co-organized by Nuovo Gallery, the group exhibition "Soft Landing" will open on March 8, 2024 on the first floor of Bright Spot Shichijo Cultural and Creative Park, located at No. 114 East Sichijo, and will last until April 7, 2024.
This exhibition mainly exhibits a total of 50 works by five female artists: Xu Jing, Yi Yajing, Liu Jialing, Yang Yi and Hu Nan. Every March, women's issues are back in the spotlight. On the occasion of International Women's Day, the exhibition of these works shows the methods of female artists to capture and collage emotions and pay tribute to the power of women.
