In the previous article, the author talked with you about a series of stories about China's export of ** equipment, such as exports to Pakistan, Nigeria and so on. Today, let's talk about all kinds of ** equipment exported to Myanmar. In the past two months or so, a series of conflicts in northern Myanmar have attracted everyone's attention and discussion. In the process, a series of equipment of the Burmese army was destroyed, including a large number of China. So, why is there a large number of Chinese ** in the Myanmar army?
First, let's talk about the basic situation in Myanmar. As of 2022, Myanmar has a total population of more than 54 million people and a land area of more than 670,000 square kilometers. In Southeast Asia, it is not a small country. However, Myanmar's economy is weak, and Myanmar's GDP in 2022 is only 661600 million US dollars, roughly equivalent to the total economic output of a second-tier prefecture-level city in China.
At the same time, Myanmar's military production capacity is weak, especially in terms of heavy production, which is basically dependent on imports. Due to various reasons, combined with logistical support, geographical, procurement costs and other factors, Myanmar has imported a large number of ** equipment from **, covering all aspects of the army, navy and air force of the Myanmar army. In such an environment, it is not surprising that the Myanmar army has repeatedly destroyed various equipment in the face of fighting in various places.
In a series of northern Myanmar**, a rifle has repeatedly appeared, which is very similar to the Type 95 rifle in our country. So much so that various jokes have appeared on the Internet, in fact, this rifle does have a deep relationship with my country's Type 95 rifle, but it has nothing to do with my country. It is known that on the basis of the Type 95 rifle, our country launched 5The Type 56 rifle of the caliber of 97 mm, except for the caliber, is almost exactly the same as the Type 95, which was mainly exported and was once exported to Myanmar.
Later, on the basis of the Type 97 rifle, Myanmar made a full-fledged imitation and called it the MA2 rifle. At present, not only the Myanmar army, but also various local armed forces in northern Myanmar, also use MA2 rifles in large numbers. Although it looks very similar to the Type 95 rifle and has a certain historical origin, it has nothing to do with our country.
In a series of melee battles in northern Myanmar, a destroyed WMA301 wheeled assault gun appeared. This assault gun is the export version of the Type 02 100mm wheeled assault gun in our country, and it is very close to the Type 02 assault gun in all aspects. Since 2009, the Myanmar army has successively imported 100 WMA301 wheeled assault guns from China to serve as a mobile assault force. And in the war in 2015, he made great achievements. In the melee in northern Myanmar, the Myanmar Army once again dispatched WMA301 wheeled assault guns.
As a result, due to problems with the use of tactical tactics and uncoordinated coordination with the infantry, 1 WMA301 wheeled assault gun was destroyed by local **. Judging from the ** equipment of the local armed forces in northern Myanmar, it should be the use of 40 mm rocket launchers or anti-tank mines.
In fact, most of the Myanmar Army's first-class equipment and vehicles are imported from China, and a considerable part of them are second-hand equipment imported from China. It includes 130 Type 69 II medium tanks, 160 Type 59D medium tanks, 105 Type 63 light amphibious tanks, 250 Type 85 YW-531H armored transport vehicles, 176 Type 92 wheeled infantry fighting vehicles, 50 Type 86A wheeled armored vehicles, 10 ZFB-05 light wheeled armored vehicles, 50 VT1A main battle tanks, and more.
Please note that due to the limited economic strength of Myanmar, a considerable part of the various first-class equipment imported from our country belongs to second-hand equipment, and a considerable part of the equipment belongs to the simplified version or low-configuration version. Not only the army equipment, but the Myanmar Air Force is also equipped with a large number of Chinese export fighters, and has used a series of warplanes to carry out a prolonged bombing campaign in northern Myanmar.
Up to now, the Myanmar Air Force has 31 MiG-29 fighters (MiG-29SM, MiG-29SE Thunder Block2 fighters (the lowest version, half of which is lower than the Pakistani version** J-7M fighters, 21 strong 5C fighters, 44 K8 trainers, 18 Yak-130 trainers, and 6 FTC-2000G trainers. Judging from the various fighters of the Myanmar Air Force, they are basically dominated by Russian and Chinese fighters.
During the war in northern Burma, the Burmese Air Force repeatedly dispatched various warplanes to bomb local armed forces in northern Burma. For example, in a group of Burmese fighter planes bombing**, the fighter model is very familiar. Of course, there is no way to walk by the river without getting your shoes wet, and the strength of the armed forces in northern Myanmar is also constantly strengthening. A K8 trainer aircraft of the Myanmar Air Force was shot down by local forces in northern Myanmar during a ground bombing.
At present, the total strength of the Myanmar Navy has reached more than 15,000 people, under the jurisdiction of four fleets, equipped with a series of capital ships and submarines, namely: two Anuradha class patrol ships, one 2,500-ton Yongguga-class frigate, two 3,000-ton Jiang Xituo-class frigates, three 3,000-ton Sinbiao Xin-class frigates, and three 1,100-ton Adolondo-class corvettes.
In addition, a series of second-hand ships have been imported from China, including 2 053H1 missile frigates, 6 037IG missile boats, and 9 Type 037 hunting submarines. According to Myanmar news reports, in 2021, Myanmar began to build a 4,000-ton main frigate, which, judging from the published model, largely draws on the mature design of China's Type 054A frigate. In terms of submarine design, Myanmar is not yet able to design and build it on its own.
Due to its limited economic strength, Myanmar is unable to import a new generation of submarines from various countries. Eventually, through various channels, a decommissioned Kilo-class submarine was imported from India and one Type 035B submarine was imported from our country. Judging from the actual situation of the Burmese army, navy and air force, it is indeed equipped with a large number of Chinese ** equipment, but it is not imported in the recent period.
There are many more stories about the construction and development of the armed forces of Myanmar, and the author will talk to you slowly in future articles.
