In the municipality of Lashio in northern Shan State, Myanmar, the Ina Bridge on the Lashio Nandu Highway was blown up and is no longer passable.
Local people informed that it was estimated that in the middle of the night on December 31, 2023, the Ina Bridge on the Lashio Nandu Highway, 7 miles away from Lashio, was blown up.
A local citizen said that the Inax Bridge should have been blown up around midnight on December 31, and it is not known what organization did it, and Lashio heard the sound of drone bombing and shelling, and now the bridge is broken, and motorcycles, cars, and people can't walk.
At present, the only road connecting Lashio to other towns is the Lashio Nanbang Monya Highway, and almost all the roads into Lashio have been cut off, and the people in the area are extremely worried about food shortages and fierce fighting in the city.
A local man said that the bridge connecting Lashio was left to go to the Nanbang Bridge on the other side of Mengya, and there was only one road left. Many people have begun to leave Lashio for refuge because the roads are impassable, and they are worried about food shortages, bombardments, and siege stations.
It was reported that because the town of Nandu had been occupied by TNLA, which was about 45 miles away from the city of Lashio, the military was worried that TNLA would break through the bridge, so the military reduced its forces to garrison Lashio, which was usually guarded by military troops, and on the evening of December 31, military troops withdrew from the bridge.
