Myanmar media reported that data released by the Department of Archaeological Research and National Museum Management in Bagan showed that in 2023, the number of foreign tourists entering Bagan for tourism will be less than 6,000.

According to Bagan Branch Director U Kyaw Miu Win, during the third week from January to December 2023, more than 5,500 foreign tourists from 57 countries entered the Bagan region.

Among these expatriate tourists, Thailand has the highest number of tourists with 2,369 visitors. It was followed by Russia and Vietnam with more than 440 and 364 respectively. Chinese tourists came in fourth place with 338. In addition, there are tourists from 57 countries such as the United States, France, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, but the number of tourists from each country is between 1-2 people.

It is worth noting that the number of foreign tourists entering Bagan for tourism in 2023 has decreased compared to 2022. In 2022, the number exceeded 6,000. In 2021, the number was just over 600.
