KOH Samui — On December 3, the body of a young French tourist was found on Koh Samui** in Surat Thani province, southern Thailand, who fell to his death from the upper reaches of a waterfall.
The Koh Samui Police Department learned that a French tourist, Mr. Ryan, 20, may have fallen from a waterfall in Koh Samui, so they went to the area to find the man, and the local hospital also formed a rescue team to help.
Ryan's friend, three French female tourists, were also present. According to the Koh Samui Tourist Police, the women and Ryan climbed to the higher part of the falls, while Ryan went to swim elsewhere.
After five minutes, the three female tourists could not see the deceased. So he called his name, but nothing happened.
They find Ryan's slippers and phone on the ground as they walk around and suspect that he had an accident and fell into the waterfall. So, they turned to the authorities for help.
They then took the rescue team to the bottom of the waterfall, which they had to walk into. The search was difficult due to the weather. It is believed that when it is dark and the light is low, the search party will be in danger. As a result, the search had to be suspended.
Subsequently, at around 8:40 a.m. on December 3, the rescue team arrived at the top of the waterfall with various tools, equipment and ropes, searched in the rocks, and operated drones to search from above. Ryan's body was found around 11:15 a.m. in a rock crack in the third-floor pool, and it took them about three hours to move the body out of the waterfall with great difficulty.
Subsequently, Koh Samui Police investigators conducted an autopsy on the body and deposited it at Koh Samui Hospital. At the same time, the embassy was notified for further investigation of the cause.
