According to Thai media reports, a serious car accident occurred in central Bangkok on Friday night, resulting in multiple injuries and damage to nearly two vehicles.
Thailand's Smile Bus 40 electric bus crashed into a taxi on Phaya Thai Road near the Pathum Mong junction and then several more vehicles waiting at traffic lights.
Four drivers were injured in the crash and required hospitalization**, with a total of 20 cars and motorcycles damaged. The accident caused the road to be blocked for several kilometers.
Thailand's Smile Bus said in a statement on Saturday that the 60-year-old bus driver had admitted that he mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of braking, causing the vehicle to lose control. An investigation after the accident revealed that there were no mechanical problems with the vehicle.
The bus company said it would pay for the medical expenses of the injured and provide compensation to the affected parties.
The bus driver will also face disciplinary action while vowing to improve service and ensure the safety of passengers and the public.
