The Ukrainian Border Service said on Sunday (December 24) that Polish farmers had ended the blockade of a border crossing between Ukraine and Poland and that the passage of trucks had fully resumed.
"Truck traffic has been restored and Polish farmers have ended the blockade of the border crossing between Medyka and Shehyni," the service said on Telegram. ”
The service quoted Polish border guards as saying that the activity at the border crossing ended at 9:30 a.m. Kiev time (3:30 p.m. Singapore time) on Sunday, adding: "The registration and transit of trucks entering Ukraine is proceeding as usual." ”
Polish farmers said on Saturday (23rd) that they will suspend ** activities at the border crossing on the Polish-Ukrainian border from Sunday, but truckers will continue to block the other three border crossings during the Christmas period.
Since Nov. 6, drivers have blocked multiple border crossings between Poland and Ukraine, demanding the resumption of a regime that requires Ukrainian companies to obtain a permit to operate in the EU, as well as for European truck drivers seeking to enter Ukraine.
Later, farmers joined them, demanding subsidies for corn and no tax increases.
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Kubrakov said on Thursday (21st) that Kyiv hopes to reach an agreement with Poland's new ** to end the truck blockade on the border.
Ukrainian transport analysts say there are about 3,900 trucks on the Polish side awaiting permission to enter Ukraine.
Poland's new Prime Minister Donald Tusk said last week that the new ** will do its best to end the truckers' activities quickly.
