At present, China has five major military regions, and their functions, responsibilities, and areas under their jurisdiction are as follows:

Northern Military Region: It has jurisdiction over five provinces and cities: Liaoning, Shandong, Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Inner Mongolia, with theater organs set up in Shenyang and army organs stationed in JinanThe main function of this theater is to guard the northern frontier and ensure stability and security in the north.
5. Central Military Region: It has jurisdiction over seven provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, and HubeiAn important function of the theater is to defend the capital Beijing, while taking into account the strategic coordination with the other four theaters.
