DigitalCameraWorld features the magazine's staff members' favorite cameras of 2023.
The DigitalCameraWorld team looked back at 2023 and picked out their favorite cameras. 2023 has been a great year for cameras, with a lot of new products coming out. Here are the favorite cameras of 2023 for each member of DigitalCameraWorld.
Editor James Artaius: Sony 9 III
There are very few cameras on the market that can completely overwhelm the competition, and Sony's 9 iii achieves just that. This camera is the fastest and smartest, with several features that other cameras don't have. This camera has neither a mechanical shutter nor a jelly effect, and the future of the camera is foreseen when used. The 9 iii is the best camera for 2023, and as this technology evolves, the cameras will be even better after 2024.
Comment editor Gareth Bevan: Fujifilm X-S20
When talking about the best cameras, many users will mention cameras with excessive performance, but the best cameras are those that have all the features that are actually needed and are reasonably ***. I think for most people, the X-S20 is the best choice for 2023. This camera is the one that will also win in 2024.
Editor-in-Chief Adam Juniper: Hoverair X1
I'm a drone pie and love surprises, so the most exciting camera for 2023 is the Hoverair X1. This drone is revolutionary in many ways. While being ultra-light, the use of a simple cage ensures safer performance than other drones. The epoch-making significance was that there was no need for remote control at all, and the main camera was used to track the subject.
Australian Editor-in-Chief Sharmishta Sarkar: Nikon Z8
I'm neither a professional photographer nor a sports photographer, and to be honest, don't want to walk around with a bulky camera. Therefore, the miniaturization of the Z9 is a surprise surprise. It may be too much performance for yourself, but it's exciting. The Z8 condenses high speed in a compact body, and it is impossible to imagine what kind of shooting adventure it will take.
Content Directed by Chris George::OM System TG-7
While several well-known manufacturers have discontinued compact cameras, OM System has released a new compact camera, which is commendable. In most cases, smartphones can replace small cameras, but almost no one would want to use a smartphone while paddle skiing at the beach. In that kind of scene, the sturdy camera played a real value.
Staff Contributor Hannah Rooke: Nikon ZF
There has always been a long-aspiration for a full-frame retro model, and Nikon has finally fulfilled that in the form of a ZF. Although the ZF style is retro, it is not technically retro. Although I don't like color cameras, I have to admit that I'm a fan of ZF color options. The ZF follows the style of my favorite film camera, the FM2, very well, and that's why I'm a big fan of the ZF.
Edited by Karum Carter: Fujifilm GFX100II
I am a GFX50SII user, although the picture quality is great, but due to the increasing requirements of customers, this camera is not enough. The GFX100II can change that. The GFX100II has the potential to be one of the best hybrid cameras out there, making excellent stills and ** without having to change cameras. This camera is at the top of my Christmas list!
Ben Andrew, Lab Manager: Canon EOS R100
In times of financial constraints, there is a need for more affordable cameras than ever. However, the moderate SLR has become a thing of the past, and the mirrorless entry machine is either discontinued or raised, and people who value it do not have too many choices. That's when the $599 EOS R100 came into play. While the EOS R100 camera itself has very few features, it does include all the features that a photographer actually needs, so it can shoot great**. If you're looking to switch from a smartphone to the right camera, look no further than the EOS R100.
E-commerce editor Sebastian Oakley: Leica M11 monochrome edition
This camera is undoubtedly a key for me in 2023. I'm a big fan of Leica cameras, and a lot of my work is done in black and white in RAW color, so for me, the black and white camera is very attractive. The design of this camera is ahead of its time, and the resulting images are outstanding.
There are really a lot of attractive cameras coming out in 2023. The Z8 and ZF were highly rated in reviews everywhere and were selected at the award, but they were also selected here and are really popular cameras among reviewers.
Sony's Sony 9 III hasn't been released yet, so it won't really be reviewed until next year, but it seems to be a truly revolutionary camera, and you can feel the excitement of those who choose it. Also, the EOS R100 received quite poor reviews everywhere, but here it received a very rare high rating.
