The history of the Xinzhuang flyover came to an end and was officially demolished!

On December 15, 2023, an existing pedestrian bridge of Xinzhuang subway station that has been in service for more than 20 years had to be retired due to structural conflicts with the large railway platform under construction in Xinzhuang.

After the fine organization of the 24th Bureau of China Railway, after 15 blockade constructions and 25 days of day and night fighting.

On the premise of ensuring the safe operation of the railway, the Xinzhuang superstructure project successfully completed the lifting of the slab girder of the pedestrian bridge across the Shanghai-Spring Railway.

Preparations for railway operations are carried out during the day, so hoisting will be carried out in the early hours of the night to ensure that the normal operation of the railway is not affected.

In March 1999, the construction of the old pedestrian bridge of Xinzhuang subway station encountered obstacles from the large railway platform structure above Xinzhuang, so it needed to be demolished.

The Xinzhuang superstructure project successfully and efficiently completed all the scheduled tasks within the limited time limit of 200 minutes.

It ended earlier than originally planned, showing excellent performance.

Did you know? When Metro Line 1 was extended south to Xinzhuang, the flyover was still under construction.

It was only built around 2000, so in the beginning, it was more convenient for people in the North Square to take the subway.

This large pedestrian bridge from Xinzhuang Metro Station to South Square was put into use in November 2000. It stands out for its unique design.

It is about more than ten meters wide, the top is covered with steel structure translucent nylon plate, and there is no column in the middle, which is one of the most distinctive flyovers in the city's subway stations.

In 2005, pirated books and discs were rampant on the streets, and the phenomenon of selling pirated copies on flyovers was repeatedly banned. There is a row of stalls on the overpass in the South Square, and the "counter" more than ten meters long and the ground are full of all kinds of best-selling books, but the paper of these books is rough and blurry, and they are obviously pirated books.

According to Mr. Li, the stall has been set up here for about two weeks, and it is usually set up in the morning and closed in the evening. Due to the large number of pedestrians coming and going, and the fact that it is a must for teachers and students in the suburbs of several nearby universities, many people come to buy it every day.

Mr. Li wondered: "Why is this illegal sale of pirated books unimpeded here?""Speaking of the South Square flyover, there is another incident that has to be mentioned.

That was the suicide of a man jumping off a bridge in 2016. Because of this emergency, high green barbed wire fences were installed on both sides of the flyover. At around 14:10 on July 6, 2016, a man jumped from the pedestrian overpass in the South Square of the Xinzhuang Metro in Shanghai, and was hit by the passing Harmony train and hit the roadbed on the other side of the overpass.

On the same day, the Shanghai railway department confirmed the matter. According to the railway department, the train runs under the pedestrian bridge. After the accident, the train was temporarily suspended, during which train passengers waited at a nearby platform.

Affected by this, the train from Shanghai South Railway Station to Jinshan was delayed by about 30 minutes to arrive in Jinshan. Netizens said that the scene was cordoned off, and the body was disposed of using an ambulance stretcher and a lockbox.

The railway department said that although the train used the Harmony, it operated at the speed of the city railway. According to a previous report by the People's Railway Network, the maximum operating speed of the Jinshan Railway is 160 kilometers.

At present, the security department is investigating. The accident has been dealt with and the line is back in traffic. The railway department said that the follow-up service was not affected.

The typhoon blows down the ceiling, this topic has been said too many times, so I won't go into it here. Unlike the modern new rail stations, which are all underground, the four stations (Xinzhuang, Outer Ring Road, Lianhua Road, and Jinjiang Amusement Park) in the south extension of Line 1 have a special status in the hearts of many railway fans.

Although on a certain social platform, these stations are all labeled as "Japanese", under their lens, these stations all exude a different charm of the years, which is fascinating.

The bridge, for some, is the road they have walked for more than 20 years, and although there is no shortage of complaints, it has now been demolished. So, what memories do you have about this bridge that you can share with us?
