Beijing, 3 Dec (Xinhua) -- The 16 th China-Japan-ROK Health Ministers' Meeting was held in Beijing on 3 December.
Lei Haichao, Vice Minister of the National Health Commission of China, Kazuhiro Oshima, Vice Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan, Park Minshou, Vice Minister of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea, Suzanne Jacob, Regional Director of the Western Pacific Region of the World Health Organization, and Lee Hee-sub, Secretary-General of the China-Japan-Korea Cooperation Secretariat, led a delegation to attend the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the achievements of China-Japan-ROK health cooperation, and conducted in-depth exchanges on the practices and experiences of the three countries in the areas of health emergency preparedness for infectious disease pandemics, strengthening the resilience of primary health systems, promoting universal health coverage, and strengthening elderly care services for healthy ageing. The meeting adopted the Joint Statement of the 16th Trilateral Health Ministers' Meeting, and the three parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Health Cooperation between the three parties after the meeting.
Before the meeting, Lei Haichao met with Kazuhiro Oshima, Park Minshou and Jacob respectively, and signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on China-South Korea Health Cooperation", "China-Japan Memorandum of Understanding on Health Cooperation" and "Implementation Plan for China-Japan Cooperation in Elderly Care" with relevant parties.
The Trilateral Health Ministers' Meeting was established in 2006 and is hosted by China, Japan and the Republic of Korea on a rotating basis. More than 60 representatives from the health ministries of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, the Western Pacific Region of the World Health Organization and the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat attended the meeting.
