Dilute 100 ml of this wastewater sample to 1,000 ml and adjust the pH to pH 2 with lye0, 2500 mg sodium thiosulfate and 70 mg of chromium remover are added, continue to mix quickly for 5 min, and then adjust the pH to pH 110, then reduce the stirring speed to allow flocculation and coagulation to occur, continue to stir slowly for 30 min before stopping the agitator. Allow the flocculated slurry to sit for 2 h. Remove the clear water sample from the top of the beaker solution and analyze it for chromium content. The analysis showed that the residual concentration of hexavalent chromium was 001 mg liter with a total chromium concentration of 021 mg liters. The results of the treatment showed that the combination of sodium thiosulfate and chromium remover was used, about 9993% of the chromium is removed.
The use of conventional inorganic salt coagulants, such as polyiron, polyaluminum, etc., before adding chromium removers, can reduce the cost of wastewater treatment and improve the removal rate of chromium.
