From "deserved" to respected: my path to emotional intelligence growth in the workplace.
I always thought of myself as a hardworking person, but it wasn't until that commendation from the leader that I realized that I had been ignoring the importance of emotional intelligence.
I remember it was a busy Friday and I had just finished a difficult task. The afterglow of the setting sun shines through the office window and onto my computer screen, shimmering with exhaustion. The leader came over, patted me on the shoulder, and said, "Good work, you did a good job." I blurted out, "Yes!."Then, the leader smiled and walked away.
At that moment, I thought it was a successful exchange, however, in hindsight, I realized that my answer was actually full of low emotional intelligence. As night fell, I sat alone in the corner of my office, looking out the window at the neon lights, and an indescribable emptiness welled up in my heart. I began to reflect on how to win respect and trust with high emotional intelligence in one fell swoop
So, I started to ask people around me for advice. One of my senior colleagues told me, "Praise from your leader is not only a recognition of your work, but also an opportunity to build a deeper relationship." Your answer, while polite, lacks a sincere and intelligent exchange. ”
He gave me three pieces of advice: First, acknowledge the positive impact of your work;Second, express gratitude for the leadership's support; Finally, show your enterprising mindset and desire for the future.
I was inspired to try to apply these suggestions. Soon after, the leader praised me again, and this time I replied with a smile: "Thank you for the leader's recognition of my work, the workload has been really heavy these days, and I was busy until 1 a.m. last night." In fact, you have a harder time managing the big picture. With your support and recognition from everyone it is worth it, and I will continue to work hard in the future. ”
A hint of surprise flashed in the leader's eyes, and his smile was full of satisfaction and approval. I finally understood that answering with high emotional intelligence not only earns respect, but also builds trust.
Since then, I have begun to pay more attention to communicating with colleagues and leaders, and face every conversation with high emotional intelligence. I've found that this not only makes me feel like a fish in water in the workplace, but also makes my job more enjoyable.
I have learned that every communication is a bridge that connects people's hearts, and answers with high emotional intelligence are the most stable pillars of that bridge. Whether in the workplace or in life, communication with high emotional intelligence is indispensable.
Today, I am no longer the person who can only say "yes", but a person who can win respect and trust with high emotional intelligence in one fell swoop. I believe that as long as I continue to work hard, the future will be even better.
Looking back on this growth process, I am very emotional. I used to think that if you work hard, you can get everything. However, reality tells me that emotional intelligence is just as crucial. Only by learning to communicate with high emotional intelligence can we go further in the workplace and win more respect and trust.
From now on, I will continue to work hard to improve my emotional intelligence and make myself a better person. At the same time, I also hope that my story can inspire more people to pursue the growth of emotional intelligence in the workplace and create a better future together.
