Recently, the news of two university leaders caught my attention. One was Wang Shuguo, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, who attended a forum in Nanjing and showed great energy and determination. The other is Zheng Qiang, secretary of Taiyuan University of Technology, who stepped down from this position. These two pieces of news came almost at the same time, which makes me feel very sorry.
President Wang Shuguo has always been one of my favorite university leaders. He demonstrated excellent presentation skills and strong leadership style at the alumni forum. With confident rhetoric, he pointed out the direction of high-quality development. I was so impressed by his speech that it was as if his every word was filled with power and passion.
In contrast, Professor Zheng Qiang's resignation is embarrassing. As an Internet celebrity professor, he has always been loved by students for his unique personality and exaggerated speech demeanor. His departure means that we will never again be able to appreciate his distinctive language and brilliant speeches. However, I would like to clarify that Professor Zheng Qiang was not dismissed because of the "Little Three Turmoil" a few days ago, he was completely out of age and retirement time.
Professor Zheng Qiang was born in September 1960 and is 63 years old this year. According to the regulations, as a department-level cadre, he should have retired at the age of 60. However, his retirement was delayed due to his late tenure as party secretary of Taiyuan University of Technology. Based on the calculation of the five-year term, he is expected to retire in 2025. Professor Zheng Qiang has extensive work experience, having worked at three universities, including Zhijiang University, a 985 university, and Guizhou University, a 211 university. He also made outstanding contributions to the post of Secretary of the Party Committee of Taiyuan University of Technology.
During Professor Zheng Qiang's tenure, I was deeply impressed by the fact that he took a photo with the students. Among those youthful beauties, Professor Zheng seemed very reserved, which also made me have a deep respect for him.
The Organization Department of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee spoke highly of Professor Zheng Qiang's retirement. He has experienced many colleges and universities, accumulated rich work experience, and made great contributions to the education of Shanxi Province. I sincerely wish Professor Zheng Qiang the best in his retirement.
Compared with the retirement of Professor Zheng Qiang, the retirement of President Wang Shuguo does not seem to be far off. President Wang was born in 1958, and according to the regulations of vice-ministerial cadres, he should retire at the age of 65. I don't think his retirement date is too far away. However, Xi'an Jiaotong University under the leadership of President Wang has made remarkable achievements, and I am confident that he will do everything possible for the development of the university.
As for Professor Shen Xingquan, who succeeded Professor Zheng Qiang, he is also a very good school leader. Although he is a post-60s generation with Professor Zheng Qiang, his date of birth is slightly later, at the end of the 60s. Professor Shen Xingquan is a native of Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, holds the title of doctoral supervisor, and has been working in universities in Shanxi. His work experience includes Taiyuan University of Technology and North University of China. Taking over the important responsibility of Secretary of the Party Committee of Taiyuan University of Technology this time, I believe that he will lead the school to a higher level of development.
Professor Shen's research interests are mainly in intelligent equipment and advanced manufacturing technology. With his rich academic experience and leadership skills, I believe he can inject new vitality into the development of Taiyuan University of Technology.
Through the comparison of Wang Shuguo and Zheng Qiang, two university leaders, I not only felt their different fates, but also gained a deeper understanding of the responsibilities and challenges of leaders.
President Wang Shuguo has shown excellent leadership style and strong sense of responsibility, and he has always adhered to the concept of high-quality development and made great contributions to the development of Xi'an Jiaotong University. His retirement will be a major turning point, but I am confident that he will contribute more to the future development of the school."
Professor Zheng Qiang's retirement is a great regret, although his departure is due to the age of retirement, we can still feel his unique charm and academic courage. He has led a number of colleges and universities and achieved outstanding achievements in various fields, and his retirement will be a great loss to the education cause of Shanxi Province.
Through this incident, I feel that leaders have a great responsibility to take on the responsibility for the future development of the school, and they need to have excellent leadership skills and a high sense of responsibility. I believe that only such leaders can lead the school to a higher level of development.
In my future work, I will pay more attention to my own development and improvement, strive to become an excellent editor, and make my own contribution to disseminating knowledge and promoting social progress. At the same time, I also hope that under the leadership of the school leaders, my alma mater can continue to take firm steps on the road of education and provide students with a better learning environment and development opportunities.
