General Ding Sheng was one of the founding fathers of the People's Republic of China, who had made great achievements in the four fields, and later served as the top leader of the Nanjing Military Region and the Guangzhou Military Region, and was a general at the level of a large military region. It stands to reason that he should enjoy a good treatment after retirement and enjoy his old age in peace. However, due to his involvement in two cases, he was forced to leave the army in 1982 and could only be placed locally according to the standards of regimental cadres.
His predecessors, the three generals Wu, Qiu, and Li, were all assigned to Jinan, Xi'an, Taiyuan and other places, and their lives were decent. Ding Sheng, on the other hand, was sent to Nanchang, where he was supposed to settle down, but he only stayed for two months before leaving.
At the end of July 1984, Ding Sheng set out from Nanjing, went to Nanchang, and completed the handover with the people of the Nanchang Old Cadre Bureau, and the army no longer cared about his life.
However, the weather in Nanchang was too hot, and Ding Sheng had heart disease. When he was in the army, he had good medical conditions, and whenever he felt unwell, he was able to ** in time. However, after leaving the army, his body was left unattended, and one day in September, he suddenly suffered a heart attack and fell to the ground. After being sent to the hospital, although the heart disease was relieved, he suffered from brain **, dizziness and nausea, and vomiting non-stop.
Because of this illness, he felt that he had no relatives to take care of him in Nanchang, so he applied to return to Nanjing.
In Nanjing, his life was difficult, and it was not until the winter of 1989 that he followed his daughter to Shenzhen. His daughter is an ophthalmologist who works in a hospital in Shenzhen, which is also the result of Ding Sheng's encouragement. He felt that life in Nanjing was too hard, and it was better to go to the forefront of reform and opening up to improve his life.
At this time, Ding Sheng, several of his children were working in Guangdong, not far from Shenzhen. They were finally able to be reunited and live happily ever after.
In 1990, some of his comrades-in-arms saw his situation and suggested that he go to Beijing to appeal and seek some compensation. So, he went to Beijing to reflect on his experience. In Beijing, some of his old subordinates also invited him to some places where he had fought and worked, such as Tianjin, Wuhan, Jinan, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guilin, etc.
From 1990 to 1995, he traveled a lot, and at each place he went, he stayed for a while.
In Shenzhen, he hoped to transfer his personnel relations to Shenzhen and enter the army's cadre rest house to live. In this way, he does not have to let his children take care of his life, and his children can visit him regularly. However, he is already a local cadre, and if he wants to return to the army, the local government does not agree, and the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection cannot do anything.
It was not until 1995 that his situation became known to the General Political Department, and with the approval of the leadership, the director of the Nanchang Cadre Retreat Center informed him that he had been taken over by the army. However, he didn't know that he was going to **, and he was worried that if he went too far, he would be separated from his children.
Fortunately, his superiors still took into account his actual situation and finally arranged for him to go to the cadre rest house of the Guangzhou Military Region and enjoy the treatment of the division level. There, he met many old subordinates, old acquaintances. Because he worked in the Guangzhou Military Region for 5 years, he was once a deputy commander and commander.
When he had free time, he played chess and chatted with some old cadres.
From 1984 to 1995, he was on the move, even in Nanjing, where he changed houses several times. Once moved, he was harassed by some people, and he was cut off from water and electricity, which made his life very unstable.
In 1999, when his life came to an end, he moved into a new building in the dry rest house, and the room was reasonable and he was satisfied. Unfortunately, he didn't live there long before he died.
