The poem "Cicada" by the Tang Dynasty poet Li Shangyin uses the noble and tragic fate of the cicada as a metaphor for people, which has attracted infinite reverie.
Li Shangyin's poem "Cicada" expresses the suffering and tribulation of life by describing the song and tragic fate of cicadas.
The two sentences in the poem, "It is difficult to be satisfied with high content, and it is futile to hate and waste words" alludes to the injustice of social class and the pain caused by the pursuit of fame and fortune.
And "Five More Neglected and Ruthless" writes about the loneliness and helplessness in life, no matter how you shout, no one pays attention to it.
The last two sentences "The thin eunuch is still widespread, and the old garden has been flattened" expresses the poet's longing for his hometown and helplessness about his own fate.
Li Shangyin's poem, using the image and song of the cicada to express his inner feelings and thoughts, the language is concise and profound, which can be called a masterpiece in the poetry of the cicada in the Tang Dynasty.

Poetry Commentary:
It is difficult for you to have a full stomach when you perch on a high branch, and no one pays attention to the sorrow and hatred. After the fifth watch, the sound of sparseness was almost cut off, and the trees were still as green as before. My official position is lowly like a peach stalk, drifting uncertainly, and my homeland has been barren for a long time, and the weeds have long been flattened. I'm tired of your chirping to wake me up, and I'm as poor as washing my family.
Author of the poem:
Li Shangyin, born in about 813 A.D. and died in about 858 A.D., was born in Hanoi, Huaizhou (now Qinyang City, Henan Province). A famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty, he and Du Mu were collectively called "Little Li Du". As the son-in-law of Wang Maoyuan, the envoy of Jingyuan Jiedu, he was involved in the political whirlpool of "Niu Li Party Dispute", was squeezed out, and was struggling all his life.
Li Shangyin was one of the few poets in the late Tang Dynasty and even the entire Tang Dynasty who deliberately pursued poetry. He is good at poetry writing, and his literary value is quite high. His poems are novel in conception and beautiful in style, especially some love poems and untitled poems are written in a lingering and sympathetic manner, beautiful and moving, and are widely recited.
