Welcome to Issue 4535 of the History Column. We focus on Comrade ***, who was falsely accused in the 1967 "Sixty-One" case and did not return to the main leadership position until 1979. In fact, in October 1976, the relevant cabal was crushed, but it is still touching that nearly three years later, comrades with such qualifications and talents as *** were able to make a comeback.
The process of rehabilitation and comeback was not smooth sailing: the then Deputy Prime Minister did not approve of "liberation" and others. **Extremely loyal to ***, proficient in agricultural production. However, his theoretical level is relatively low, and sometimes he has difficulties in comprehensively and accurately understanding political thought, and his words and deeds tend to follow the trend. After 1976, the leadership focused on stabilizing the national situation, supported the "two whatevers", and hoped to maintain the authority of the country and rebuild the national order. However, although this theoretical formulation can be understood, it lacks scientific basis and has aroused criticism inside and outside the party.
** After the comrade's comeback, he pushed for the rectification of chaos and the "great debate on the question of the criterion of truth", which obviously had some conflict with the leadership at that time. If we want to rehabilitate veteran cadres, we must first criticize the erroneous thinking of "two whatevers." This is the only way to go. Finally, around the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee in 1978, the problem was basically resolved, and Comrade ** also made a self-critical speech.
In 1979, Comrade ** returned to the post of Deputy Prime Minister, after *** had opposed the move. As early as when *** was at a disadvantage, he visited *** in the hope that he could help solve historical problems objectively and impartially. However, *** did not agree at that time, because he had his own views on some of the cadres who were criticized back then.
After his death, he made every effort to uphold the authority of the great man and showed a negative attitude towards some old cadres. ** Comrades are steady and generous in handling problems, but in a complicated situation, it is inevitable that there will be various concerns in their work. Later, he was criticized by veteran cadres at the ** Politburo meeting, and one of the reasons was his attitude towards "putting things in order".
In public and private, ** very supportive of President Hua. In 1979, he saw a comeback at the meeting, showing a unique attitude. He welcomes *** back to work, but then there is some dramatic twist: I hope you don't forget, if you don't have President Hua to crush the cabal, it will be difficult for you to be liberated!**There is a deep meaning in the words, and normal people will inevitably feel embarrassed by this expression. However, as an old cadre who has experienced life and death, he behaves very calmly. He smiled and responded to Comrade *** Yonggui, this is not true. It should be said that it was at the correct request of the majority of the comrades in the party that we were able to return here. ”
After his comeback, he actively supported the policy and contributed his own strength to the cause of reform and opening up. And the main focus on agriculture is in.
Under the planned economic system of the 60s and 70s, there were considerable contributions and some mistakes. In 1980, he chose to resign from the leadership position and quietly withdrew from the stage.
