Sealant SGR certification and GOST certification.
Sealant is a building or renovation material that has a paste-like consistency. It has high insulating properties and can seal gaps, seams, cracks, and various defects. Its composition is very common and can be used as a binder. The production of sealants is carried out on the basis of polymer or oligomer raw materials. They are chemical products that can cause harm to human health or the environment if they are not properly circulated. Sealant certification guarantees that the product does not pose a threat if the rules of use are followed. The aim is to confirm that there are no violations of GOST standards in the production process and to confirm their quality through research. Sealants can only be tested using certified equipment at the relevant certified centers.
Sealant SGR State Registration
Current law does not stipulate that every sealant must obtain EAC certification or other certification to confirm the acceptability of its circulation. Sealants must only comply with the Russian regulations and the CCC Decision No. 299 of 28.2010 stipulates that such goods must be registered with the SGR state. The registration is carried out by the Rospotrebnadzor Health Department to check the hygienic safety. Every product, including acrylic sealant, is inspected in two ways:
Verification of the manufacturer's and developer's documentation
Laboratory control is performed on material samples, and binders such as silicone, acrylic and other initial components are also checked during the process.
In some cases, it is necessary to obtain a certificate of state registration of the SGR to confirm that the characteristics declared by the manufacturer meet the requirements. For example, if a sealant contains a polymer resin and the manufacturer claims that the product is flammable or fire-retardant, it must be certified in accordance with the requirements in the Russian 123-FZ regulation, which came into force on July 22, 2008.
Certification Approval Process
SGR registration is a rather lengthy process that includes multiple analyses of the product's ingredients. During each test cycle, the experts prepare different conclusions. The SGR State Registration Certificate is issued only if the sealant does not contain unacceptably dangerous or toxic substances.
Based on the test results, an SGR registration certificate is issued to the enterprise and registered, and then the sealant is included in the relevant registration system. The obtained SGR national registration certificate has international status and is acceptable to the countries of the Eurasian Union.
Voluntary GOST certification
Regardless of the presence or absence of an SGR registration certificate, the sealant can be tested an unlimited number of times by any official organization. The accompanying package of documents may include a voluntary GOST certificate that meets the security standards. A voluntary GOST certificate is issued to confirm the quality characteristics of the goods that the manufacturer or seller needs to emphasize. The existence of a voluntary GOST certificate can stimulate the desire of the end user to purchase the goods. For example, polyurethane sealants are sometimes certified to further verify their adhesion, moisture resistance, high temperature resistance, drying speed, and similar properties. All of these are important because these products are often used to make roofs.
For voluntary GOST certification assessments, relevant parties can independently establish a voluntary certification system. Based on GOST standards, TU enterprise standards, various departmental specifications and quality standards. As with state registration, product testing can only be carried out in accredited laboratories. Obtaining a voluntary GOST certificate can improve the positioning of a brand in the market. The availability of voluntary GOST certification may become a condition of the conclusion of a contract with a business partner.
