BYD has made a new breakthrough in the field of new energy charging technology.
On December 26, BYD held a full-scene efficient charging technology communication meeting, the core content of which was its launch of the industry's first passenger car ultra-800V high-voltage platform + dual-gun supercharging technology.
In the early stage of the development of new energy vehicles, the industry is generally faced with three nos: one no charging technology, two no charging infrastructure, and three no charging standards. Ling Hepingxian, vice president of BYD Automotive Engineering Institute, said. As one of the pioneers of new energy, BYD has opened the road of comprehensive innovation in charging technology and taken the lead in solving these development problems.
So, what is the power of this world's first 800V high-voltage platform and dual-gun overcharging? To what extent can it alleviate the energy supply anxiety of electric vehicles?
When it comes to the exploration of charging technology, BYD entered the track as early as 2015. BYD has taken the lead in creating an 800V high-voltage platform, which is installed on models such as Qin EV (2015 model) and Tang DM (2015 model), which can accelerate to 100 kilometers in 4 seconds, pure electric range up to 450km, and fast charging power to 60kW.
Today, under the leadership of BYD, the domestic new energy market is competing to enter the 800V high-voltage platform track.
After 8 years of continuous cultivation, BYD has completed the layout of the whole brand of high-voltage platforms, such as Han, Tang, Qin, Song, Seal, DENZA D9, DENZA N7, Equation Leopard 5, Yangwang U8 and other representative models are from BYD's latest 800V high-voltage platform.
Although the charging power of electric vehicles has been greatly improved by high-voltage models, at that time, 95% of the domestic low-voltage piles below 500V were incompatible with the charging of high-voltage models, which affected the charging efficiency. In order to solve this problem, BYD pioneered the world's first step-up charging technology, which completely realizes the compatibility of vehicle piles and fully adapts to all DC charging piles.
In the early stage of the development of new energy vehicles, most of the fast charging piles are still not charged fast enough. At present, there are only 2% of public supercharging piles with a current of more than 300A, and fast charging piles are widely popular, and supercharging piles are extremely scarce.
The dual-gun supercharge created by BYD solves this problem very well. It makes effective use of existing charging networks, and charging stations are fully compatible with small changes, making charging much more efficient for consumers. Taking the DENZA N7 as an example, the maximum power of dual-gun overcharging can reach 230kW, and the public fast charging pile can be charged for 350 kilometers in 15 minutes. From the perspective of consumers' full-scene car use, dual-gun overcharging is more convenient than 800V single-gun energy replenishment.
Of course, consumers have fast requirements for charging, and it is more important to put safety in the first place, because the uplift technology is more stringent for battery thermal management, BYD is the world's first composite direct cooling technology, through the design of straight cold plates on both sides of the battery, as well as 2 sets of refrigerant independent control systems, the compensating runner design has been carried out, the battery cooling area has been increased by 100%, and the heat exchange capacity has been increased by more than 85%.
As we all know, the winter in the north is extremely cold, and the battery life and charging of a pure electric vehicle are facing a great test. In response to this extremely cold weather, BYD has also pioneered the full-scene intelligent pulse self-heating technology to ensure that the vehicle can be quickly charged at extremely low temperatures.
In the -30 extreme cold conditions, taking the DENZA N7 as an example, the all-scenario intelligent pulse self-heating technology increases the battery heating rate by 230% compared with the traditional solution, and reduces the full battery charging time by 30%, allowing users in northern China to enjoy a fast charging experience in winter. Not only can it be self-heating when charging, but it can also intelligently start the self-heating technology in the parking and driving states to ensure the performance of the vehicle at extremely low temperatures.
It can be said that BYD, with 20 years of technical accumulation and profound skills, took the lead in achieving a breakthrough in charging technology from 0 to 1, and opened a comprehensive innovation road of charging technology.
BYD's series of technological breakthroughs have given China's new energy vehicle charging technology a "root". In the future, BYD will continue to innovate and invest in R&D to build a charging technology system that is more in line with the current national conditions.
