People's Daily Online, Beijing, December 15 (Reporter Wei Yanxing) On December 13, the special exhibition "Bronze Light: Sanxingdui and Rodin's Dialogue in Time and Space" sponsored by Shanghai University and Sichuan Provincial Cultural Heritage Bureau opened at the Shanghai University Museum.
Sanxingdui bronzes and Rodin sculptures are not only the unique creations of Eastern and Western civilizations, but also the precious cultural heritage of all mankind, their value connotation and ideological characteristics far beyond geographical restrictions, and have become one of the most valuable examples of human civilization's inclusiveness, integration and innovation.
The exhibition exhibits 36 ancient cultural relics mainly in Sanxingdui and 21 modern artworks mainly in Rodin's works, including "Golden Mask", "Bronze Head with Gold Mask", "Bronze Statue in Skirt", "Bronze Humanoid Statue with Animal Face Pattern", "Bronze Humanoid", etc., as well as "Balzac's Head", "Apollo in the Great War Python", "Woman with a Veil", "Draft of the Gate of Hell" and other highly influential and representative creations in Western sculpture art. The common connection between the spiritual world of the ancient Shu civilization and Rodin's creative thought shows the eternal purpose of human civilization across regions, time and space, and carries out a dialogue between ancient and modern China and foreign countries.
