In the early days of the War of Liberation, the PLA was all on the defensive, but after the victory in the three major battles, our army's strategy changed from defense to offense. Before the three major battles, our army adopted a defensive strategy, but in the later battles, our army fought more and more smoothly, and many theaters had already adopted the first mode and liberated major cities. Not only that, but the way of fighting has also changed, from the previous field combat to the battle of the fortified battle.
The difference between a tough attack and a field battle is that if there is no heavy attack on the attack, it is still relatively large. Field warfare is very good for the people's team, and at the same time can also be adaptable. Although the battle is not easy to fight, and a large number of soldiers will be lost, when the situation of the liberation war develops into a situation where the enemy pays attention to defense, even if it is difficult to fight, it is necessary to carry out a tough battle.
According to statistics, on the battlefield of liberation, the PLA launched a total of four offensive battles, and the scale was relatively large, and it also had a deep impact. The first battle was the Battle of Jinan on the Shandong battlefield. Friends who are familiar with history may know that the Battle of Jinan was the first large-scale battle in the Liberation War, and the target of liberation was Jinan, an important town in Shandong.
The commanders of the campaign were the chief and deputy commanders of the East China Field Army, Chen Geng and Su Yu. The commanders of the front line are the fierce general Xu Shiyou and the wise general Wang Jian'an. Since the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, these two people have carried out revolutionary undertakings in Shandong, so the two of them served as pre-war commanders and the joint command of Chen Geng and Su Yu was simply like a tiger with wings.
On September 16, 1948, the Battle of Jinan officially began, after 8 days of heroic fighting in the East China Field Army, the city of Jinan was breached, more than 100,000 enemies were eliminated, and the first general Wang Yaowu was captured. The Battle of Jinan City can be said to be the first major city conquered by the People's Liberation Army on the battlefield, and it also set a precedent for large-scale battles, playing an exemplary role for various major theaters.
The second battle was the Battle of Jinzhou on the Shandong battlefield. It also belongs to the most important part of the Liaoshen Campaign. The important goal of the campaign was to capture Jinzhou City, so as to cut off the retreat route in the three eastern provinces, and then turn it into a situation of closing the door and beating the dog. Therefore, the capture of Jinzhou City will be a very critical battle, which is related to the direction of the entire Liaoshen Campaign. Mr. Lin, the main person in charge of the Northeast Battlefield, also knew the importance of Jinzhou, so those who participated in the Jinzhou Campaign belonged to the ace column in the Northeast Field Army.
In order to be able to keep Jinzhou, Chiang Kai-shek temporarily formed two major reinforcement corps, but they were blocked by the Northeast Field Army, which trapped them in the Black Mountain, Tashan, and Tiger Mountain areas and could not advance. There was no way to reinforce in time, so he could only watch the Northeast Field Army capture Jinzhou and capture Fan Hanjie, the commander of the city.
The third battle, the Battle of Tianjin, was a battle on the battlefield in North China. Although the Battle of Tianjin lasted for a short time, it had a huge impact. Because the Northeast Field Army quickly liberated Tianjin with a lightning operation mode, which caused a deterrent to the enemy, Fu Zuoyi finally chose to revolt, and Beiping was also peacefully liberated. The front-line commander of the Tianjin Campaign was Liu Yalou, and the commanders-in-chief, Mr. Lin and Mr. Nie, also played an important role here.
The fourth battle was the Battle of Taiyuan on the Shanxi battlefield. This battle was the longest consumption time and the largest number of troops invested in the large-scale offensive battles during the entire Liberation War. At that time, it was the Yan Xishan military group stationed in Taiyuan, so it was a vicious battle for the PLA.
Because this battle was not easy to fight, in the Taiyuan Campaign, our army invested 330,000 troops successively, and even the commander changed two, the first was Xu Shuai and the second was General Peng. We all know that these two are particularly powerful figures in our army. It can be seen from here that the Battle of Taiyuan is really difficult to fight. In the end, thanks to the volunteers of the Dongye artillery, after several days of hard fighting, the Yan Xishan Group Army was completely wiped out, and Taiyuan was also conquered.
