Cracking down on plug ins, CrossFire is a bit scary this time

Recently, it is rumored that some of the top 100 players on the list in CrossFire have been officially banned because of the use of DMA plug-ins.

DMA plug-ins may no longer be unfamiliar to players of FPS games. The full name of this plug-in is Direct Memory Access, and it uses the "Direct Memory Access" technology to cheat. Through specific software and hardware tools, DMA plug-ins can read and modify the game's memory data, and share enemy coordinate information with the plug-in server to teammates in real time, so as to achieve cheating effects such as perspective. For a long time, DMA cheats have been a cancer that disrupts the balance of the game and damages the player experience in games like CrossFire.

In fact, CrossFire's efforts in combating DMA plug-ins are huge. As early as the end of 2020, Tencent's ACE team has started the technical research and infrastructure construction of DMA plug-in detection, and gradually accumulated a large amount of device hardware library data in the process. This means that if a DMA plug-in is used in the process of playing CrossFire, the relevant device is likely to be detected by Tencent's ACE solution.

With the increase in the popularity of the game and the increase in the number of players, the security operation team of CrossFire has also set up a special DMA plug-in strike team to further strengthen the crackdown and publicity effect. They first released the results of the DMA plug-in crackdown in June this year, and banned more than 500 high-level accounts in the first month, of which the proportion of small accounts is very low. In November, the DMA plug-in strike team made another effort, by continuously collecting samples with hardware anomalies and upgrading security strategies and technical means to combat DMA plug-ins, successfully making most of the DMA plug-ins on the market invalid or banned by the detection system in Crossfire. Recently, they also banned 356 cheating accounts for up to 10 years for using the new DMA plug-in. In the punishment list, they also found some cheating players who were in the top 100 of the list in various districts and engaged in live streaming. Specifically, 11 cheating accounts have successfully reached the top 100 in each region in the past monthThere are also 123 cheat accounts that have streamed during the nearly month of gameplay. In response to these violations, they said that they will continue to strengthen the review and supervision of the top 100 lists and third-party platform anchors and content authors, and severely crack down on violators who cause adverse effects.

The government's determination and strength in cracking down on plug-ins can be said to be firm and resolute. However, it is not easy to completely solve the problem of DMA cheating, and anti-cheating is a protracted battle that requires long-term efforts and persistence. The level playing field of CrossFire is inseparable from the joint maintenance and support of every player. Only through everyone's joint efforts and supervision can we ensure the fairness and healthy development of the game.
