President Díaz-Canel, distinguished colleagues, It is a great pleasure to attend the G77 and China Climate Change Leaders' Summit as China's Special Representative. At the historic moment of the first global stocktaking of the Paris Agreement, the initiative of Cuba, which holds the presidency of the Group of 77, is of great significance.
As the largest developing country in the world, China has always walked with the vast number of developing countries. ** The Chair stressed that the Group of 77 and China was an important platform for cooperation among developing countries. In recent years, China has actively and steadily promoted carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and while shouldering its own international obligations, it has made efforts to provide assistance to developing countries in coping with climate change. We have made solid progress in tackling South-South cooperation on climate change and the green Belt and Road Initiative, and have allocated more than 1.2 billion yuan in special funds for South-South cooperation on climate change, which have been widely welcomed by developing countries.
Dear colleagues! There is still a long way to go to improve global climate governance, and the G77 and China should further raise their voices and safeguard their common rights and interests.
We need to work together to promote sustainable development, strengthen the synergy between green transformation and development strategies, strengthen mutual assistance, explore new paths for synergy between development and protection, resolutely safeguard the legitimate development rights and interests of developing countries, and strive for reasonable space for development.
We need to jointly defend multilateralism, firmly uphold the goals and principles set out in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement, oppose any unilateralism and bullying under the green banner, and oppose technological blockades, barriers and "decoupling and chain breaking".
We need to work together to promote fairness and justice, urge developed countries to fulfill their commitments and obligations to take the lead in reducing emissions and providing support to developing countries, promote substantive progress in implementing climate finance and forming a framework for global adaptation goals, and give full play to the newly established role of loss and damage.
China is ready to stand together with developing countries through thick and thin, work closely together, and work together towards a green and low-carbon future.
Thank you!DUBAI, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) --
