Painter's profile: Yin Jianxin (Yin Jianxin), male, Han nationality in China, national first-class artist, oil painter, born in Macheng, Hubei, now from Beijing, living in Hong Kong and Beijing. He is currently the director of the Beijing Yingguang Charity Art Committee and the executive vice president of the Xiangshan Painting Association. He graduated from the Department of Journalism of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the MBA of Beijing Forestry University, and the Department of Painting of the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University. He has served as a journalist, deputy director of the Art Committee of the Association for Science and Technology of Tsinghua University, director of the Chinese Red Cross Society, director of the Institute of Historical and Cultural Resources of Peking University, and secretary-general of the Chinese Painting Light and Ink Art Research Institute.

It has been more than 100 years since oil painting entered China as a Western art, and China has become the country with the largest number of oil painters, and almost all oil painting forms and artistic styles have a presence among Chinese oil painters. However, the sad thing is that almost every Chinese oil painter, especially the well-known oil painters, can find their roots in the works of Western oil painters, that is to say, in the field of oil painting, the contribution of Chinese oil painters is almost zero. Although more than 100 years have passed, China is still a student in the field of oil painting. Therefore, some bigwigs in the art world have asked, what do Chinese painters, especially Chinese oil painters, use to dialogue with Western oil painting art? This question is silent. Even the entire Chinese art education system is still using the Chischakov teaching system of the former Soviet Union, which had been abandoned by Western art for decades and was not the mainstream of the West at that time. Therefore, some people say that the art of oil painting still exists at the level of oil painting technology to a large extent in China. Chinese painting art has a long history, and it is very mature in terms of artistic achievements and art theory, and it is even said that it has been fully mature in hundreds of years, and Western art has higher achievements in artistic thought and artistic realm, this view is even recognized by the Western art world, including Picasso, and everyone thinks that the real art is in the East in China. However, for the studious Chinese oil painters, they seem to have forgotten about it, and they are still following the West, imitating and even plagiarizing. Under the guidance of a special karma, the author recently visited a special oil painter, his name is Yin Jianxin. His works are fresh and earthy, with a strong flavor of Chinese culture. This allowed me to see some elements that Western oil painting does not have, and also made me see what Chinese oil painting can have a dialogue with Western oil painting, which makes me very happy. Let's take a look at a few landscape works first.

These works are different from Western oil paintings, which attach more importance to volume and space, and his works pay more attention to lines and edges, and to the calligraphy of brushwork, although they do not give up realism, but they have been separated from the depiction of real scenes, and more emphasis is placed on the flat structure of points, lines and surfaces, and also emphasizes the freehand nature of lines, which seems to have a special relationship with Chinese calligraphy. From further communication with the painter Yin Jianxin, I learned that this is true of his expression in art, and further knew why he painted the way he did. First, he is different from ordinary art school graduates, he majored in journalism as an undergraduate, which requires more involvement in literature, history and philosophy, and he himself loves to read, so he has a good foundation in literature and Chinese culture, and has professional skills in literature and culture. After graduating from university, while working in journalism, he also wrote a large number of poems, essays, and ** once walked the path of a professional writer. Second, although he has been painting since childhood, it is precisely because he did not take the road of art students that he has always maintained a unique understanding of painting, so that when he later studied oil painting in the painting department of Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, he quickly received a different view from teachers and students. It was also after this learning experience that he became more determined to pursue painting with his own uniqueness. Secondly, he has an in-depth study of the theory of Chinese painting. He also often creates Chinese landscape paintings and calligraphy, especially has his own understanding of calligraphy. In his studio, I saw his calligraphy, all of which were written casually, and I took a few pictures of them. Although he does not consider himself a calligrapher, he often writes calligraphy to understand the commonalities between painting and calligraphy.

He said that Chinese calligraphy is actually an abstract art of Chinese art, which contains all the elements of art, and the composition of points, lines, and planes studied by Western artists and the spiritual level that have not been fully studied are all reflected in Chinese calligraphy. So in the last two years, he began to paint oil paintings with Chinese freehand brushwork. Especially during his years of living in Hong Kong in the past few years, his artistic practice has been affirmed and inspired by exchanges with Western art. Later, corresponding attempts were also made in some figure paintings, and they were also well verified. For example, these portraits of people he saw in his studio. While these works do not lose realism, they maintain a relaxed and natural brushwork, fresh and expressive pictures, and there is a faint oriental atmosphere that is different from Western oil painting art.

In order to further explore Chinese oil painting, Yin Jianxin has been exploring various materials and painting methods, such as the following works, each with its own characteristics, and it seems to have a special taste of insight.

Recently, it was reported that the works of Chinese painter Yin Jianxin appeared at the Hong Kong auction site, and a 50cmx60cm landscape work "Cauliflower in Hometown" sold for 4570,000 yuan, indicating that the oil painting representing the Chinese style is going to the world. May there be more and more such Chinese painters getting better and better, and may Chinese culture and art become more and more prosperous in the forest of national culture in the world!
