It is not the performance that hinders the development of domestic CPUs, but the ecology of domestic

What hinders the development of domestic CPUs is not performance, but the ecology of domestic operating systems.

As we all know, there are currently six major national CPUs in China, including Loongson, Zhaoxin, Haiguang, Feiteng, Shenwei, and Huawei Kunpeng. Some of these CPUs use the self-developed LoongArch instruction set, some use the ARM instruction set, some use the x86 instruction set, and some use the alpha instruction set.

However, these domestic CPUs are completely insignificant compared with Intel and AMD chips, and their market share is basically 0.

Let's take a look at the computer market, or the e-commerce platform, basically all computers are using Intel and AMD chips, and there are very few computers that use domestic CPUs.

Many people say that what hinders the development of domestic CPUs is performance, because at present, whether it is Loongson, Shenwei, or Feiteng, etc., compared with Intel and AMD chips, the performance is still a lot worse.

At first glance, this statement seems to be very correct, after all, in terms of performance, there is no domestic CPU that can be compared with Intel and AMD, and even saying that performance lags behind 3 years is conservative, and some domestic CPUs can even lag behind by 5-10 years.

But in fact, if we analyze carefully, the real obstacle to the development of domestic CPUs is not actually performance, but the ecosystem of the operating system.

If the operating system that supports these domestic CPUs can be comparable to the Windows ecosystem, then the performance of domestic CPUs will immediately go up, and then compete with Intel and AMDPK.

For example, Loongson, if Windows supports Loongson, it is estimated that many domestic consumers will choose Loongson, not Intel or AMD.

And when consumers use Loongson in large quantities, Loongson will have revenue and profits, and will be able to invest heavily in R&D, develop better CPUs, and narrow the gap with Intel and AMD.

Similarly, if operating systems suitable for Feiteng, Shenwei, etc. can have a complete ecology, such as the Windows ecosystem, it is estimated that consumers will also choose domestic CPUs.

Unfortunately, at present, Windows is only suitable for x86 chips, although windows adapted to arm have also been released, but the ecology is completely different from the ecology of x86, as for windows to adapt to loongson, shenwei, etc., that is a dream.

The home CPU that is adapted to it, most of the domestic home systems based on Linux modification, ecological integrity, maturity and Windows, is not a stage of grade at all, to meet everyone's daily life, the tool is difficult. Therefore, people reject home CPUs because of operating system problems, and no one buys them, so household CPUs naturally cannot develop.

Therefore, while we blindly improve the performance of home CPUs, we must consider the ecosystem of the operating system, only in the perfect ecology, home CPUs can really go to PK with Intel and AMD, otherwise, even if the performance exceeds Intel and AMD, there is no ecosystem, consumers will still not use it, do you say yes?
