On the morning of December 17th, the majority of cultural and museum lovers met again at the "Shangdu Forum" of the Zhengzhou Shang Dynasty Capital Ruins Museum to inherit the civilization of a great country and feel everyone's style. In this issue, Sun Hua, a famous archaeologist, was invited to give a lecture on "Cities in Ancient China: Two Ancient Chinese Capital Planning Thoughts".
Sun Hua is the former director of the Academic Committee of the School of Archaeology and Museums of Peking University, and a well-known professor of archaeology, mainly engaged in the teaching and research of the archaeology of the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties in China, archaeology in southwest China, and cultural heritage protection. He has long been committed to the research of Xia, Shang and Zhou archaeology, urban archaeology, architectural archaeology, grotto archaeology, transportation archaeology, etc., and is the main founder and representative scholar of China's cultural heritage discipline.
In this lecture, Sun Hua took the ruins of the ancient city of Liangzhu, the ruins of Shiyuan Chengyi, the ruins of Erlitou, the ruins of the Shang Dynasty capital of Zhengzhou and other famous ancient cities in China as examples, and introduced and analyzed the planning and layout concepts of the capital city of ancient Chinese cities such as "the law is like the sky" and "scaling the earth". Through the wonderful lectures, the audience learned about the ingenuity of the ancients in building the capital, and they projected the most significant and stable stars in the sky, such as the Milky Way, the purple microstar, and the celestial pole, to the ground to build the capital, and used the astronomical stars as inspiration to compare the rivers on the earth to the "heavenly river", and used this as the boundary to plan different functional divisions on both sides of the river. In addition, in the pre-Qin period, the Chinese took the "well field system" as the basic element of ideal urban planning, and extended the geographical concept of the larger "Jiuzhou under heaven" political region as the blueprint for urban planning. The ideological basis of China's capital city construction practice can be decoded to the ancient period of "the law is like the sky" and "scaling the earth", and the influence of the foundation of these two capital city planning concepts has penetrated the thickness of time and has been passed down to the present.
Sun Hua placed the origin and development of ancient cities in different regions of China in a unified context, and thought about the planning ideas, layout, construction and interrelations of ancient cities as a whole, which provided new ideas and inspiration for the study and Xi of ancient capital construction thoughts.
