At the beginning of 1938, the 27th Army of the National Revolutionary Army rushed to Lanfengcheng to take over the defense of the 71st Army, a brother unit, and the 71st Army changed its defense to Shangqiu. Among them, the 87th Division of the 71st Army and the 264th Brigade of the 88th Division were first transferred to Shangqiu, leaving the 262nd Brigade of the 88th Division (commanded by the division commander Long Muhan) to deal with the change of guard with the 27th Army.
When Long Muhan was about to lead his troops to change defenses, the railway to Shangqiu was attacked by the Japanese invaders, and the 262nd Brigade could only stay in Lanfeng City and temporarily belong to the command of the 27th Army. In May of that year, the Japanese Kou Tufeiyuan Division crossed the river from the Puxian area and headed south, and the soldiers pointed directly at Lanfengcheng.
In the early morning of the 21st, the Japanese Tufeiyuan Division rushed to the outside of Lanfeng City, and immediately launched a fierce attack on the city. In order to preserve his strength, Gui Yongqing, commander of the 27th Army, ordered his headquarters to withdraw from the city without authorization, but left a brigade of the 262nd Brigade of the 88th Division to defend the city. The enemy was outnumbered, and after receiving the order, Division Commander Long Muhan understood Gui Yongqing's sinister intentions and reported it to the military headquarters of the 71st Army.
The commander of the 71st Army, Song Corps, first sent the 87th Division to help, and then sent a telegram to Gui Yongqing, asking why Gui Yongqing retreatedGui Yongqing replied: "The 88th Division is only temporary, and I will send the 36th Division, 46th Division, 61st Division, and 106th Division (the 4 divisions belonging to the 27th Army) to support, so you can rest assured." ”
The bloody battle lasted until the night of the 22nd, and the 262nd Brigade of the 88th Division had run out of ammunition and food, and the soldiers still fought to the death. Japanese reinforcements continued to arrive, but the reinforcements promised by Gui Yongqing were delayed, and more than half of the 262 Brigade was killed or wounded. In the middle of the night, Division Commander Long Muhan learned that the 27th Army was about to send troops into the city to take over the defense, so he led his troops to evacuate from the city.
However, the various units of the 27th Army fought with each other, and they did not even enter the city to garrison, resulting in the fall of Lanfeng City in the early morning of the 24th. Commander Long Muhan, who was seriously wounded, heard the bad news, and led the soldiers to the battlefield again, fought bloodily for three days and three nights, and recovered the city of Lanfeng in one fell swoop.
After the war, the people sent important personnel to investigate the person responsible for the "loss of the Lan Blockade". The treacherous and cunning Gui Yongqing began to shirk his responsibilities and accused Long Muhan: "Commander Long left his post without permission and delayed the fighter plane, which led to the fall of the city, and should be severely punished." ”
Immediately, Division Commander Long Muhan was arrested, and after being questioned by a military court, he was sentenced to be shot. When he heard the verdict, he roared angrily: "Heaven is not fair, heaven is not fair, you are blind. "In June of that year, Commander Long Muhan was escorted to the front of the position, was killed in chaos, and the star fell on the Central Plains.
