On December 5, the General Office of the Ministry of Natural Resources announced the list of field scientific observation and research stations, which were jointly built by Hohai University, the National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center and the National Satellite Ocean Application Center".Field Scientific Observation and Research Station of Sea-Air-Sea Interface at the Edge of Nanjing, Ministry of Natural Resources(hereinafter referred to as the "air-sea interface field station") was officially approved.
The air-sea interface field station focuses on building two types of observation systems, one is the site-distributed air-sea interface observation system, which mainly includes two observation systems: sea buoys and island base stations. It is based on the offshore sea, especially the South Yellow Sea and the East China Sea, and is constructed by the thermal flux, momentum flux and gas flux quantum system of the air-sea interface. The second is the full-coverage sea-air interface observation system of satellites, which mainly uses the oceanographic series satellites and Sino-French oceanographic satellites to establish a full-coverage sea-air interface observation system for China's marginal seas. The two air-sea interface observation systems have formed a good complementary relationship and constitute aAir-space-sea integrated air-sea interface observation system

The air-sea interface field station adheres to the combination of on-site observation and scientific research, realizes the connection between basic research and business application, realizes the combination of capacity building and talent training, and strives to integrate buoys, island-based fixed-point observation and satellite full coverage, provide data support for marine forecasting and climate monitoring, provide technical support for marine ecosystem monitoring and earth system change, and provide more observation support for in-depth understanding of upper ocean dynamic processes, air-sea interactions and multi-sphere interactions in science.
The three co-construction units have made a lot of substantial progress in platform construction, scientific research, talent training, social services and other aspects in the early stage, including the joint construction of the Key Laboratory of Marine Disaster Forecasting Technology of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the joint undertaking of important scientific research projects, the reform of the integrated talent training system of marine science with "strong foundation and double integration", and the cooperation in marine science popularization activities, etc., which have also laid a solid foundation for the construction and operation of the field station at the sea-air interface.
The establishment of the air-sea interface field station marks a further step in the construction of a marine science and technology innovation platform and the integration of science and education, and will strongly support the development strategy of "extending from the river to the sea" of Hohai University. At the same time, it will also greatly improve China's comprehensive marine observation capabilities, inject new impetus into China's marine scientific research and meteorological modernization, and provide strong support for protecting the marine ecological environment, improving marine disaster forecasting and mitigation capabilities, and accelerating the construction of a maritime power.
