Yang Puyi: The highest level of calligraphy

The lines are full and strong, and they are continuous and winding, reflecting the essence, energy, spirit, rhyme, and fun. Here are some of my ideas for using basic pen movements to create a unique font

1. Pay attention to the use of the press: the ups and downs of the strokes can be expressed through the lifting of the brush. Generally, the light lifting stroke will be shallow, while the heavy press will be deep, and using this technique well can make the stroke have a sense of rhythm.

2. Show the continuity of the gesture: a natural transition can be formed between the end of one stroke and the next stroke, showing a continuous momentum.

3. Keep the glyph simple: Keeping the glyph concise is conducive to better reflecting the inherent "essence, qi, spirit, rhyme, and fun" in the strokes of traditional characters.

Fourth, the flying glyphs: through the clever use of the side of the brush, the glyphs can be more dynamic and more flying.

Fifth, the pursuit of the overall ornamentality: out of the applicable function of the text, the beauty of the font is more prominent, so we should pay attention to the overall layout and collocation, so that the font is more ornamental.

6. Highlight the emotional expression of the font: inject emotion into the writing to make the font more vibrant. For example, when you are cheerful, your strokes are more lively, and when you are melancholy, you are more calm.

To sum up, in order to show "essence, energy, spirit, rhyme, and fun", it is necessary to work pen skills, glyph design, overall layout, etc., so that the font is both artistic and emotional. Such a font is not only lyrical, but also has an overall ornamental quality, which can add a lot of color to the work.
