As we all know, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, there were three main units under the leadership of our party: the Eighth Route Army, the New Fourth Army, and the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation. However, when the title was conferred in 1955, both the Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth Army had marshals, with nine in the Eighth Route Army and one in the New Fourth Army, but none of the marshals in the Northeast Anti-Japanese Alliance. So, who should become a marshal on behalf of the Northeast War of Resistance? When it comes to the leaders of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation, everyone should know Yang Jingyu, Zhao Shangzhi, Wang Detai and others, but unfortunately, these three died in the Anti-Japanese War, and only one is still alive after the founding of the People's Republic of China, that is, Zhou Baozhong.
The chairman once commented: "Zhou Baozhong wrote poems that can be sung and cried during the 14-year struggle to resist Japan and save the country in Northeast China. "So, why didn't Zhou Baozhong become a marshal?Zhou Baozhong was born in Dali, Yunnan Province in 1902, and was sent to the Northeast after the 918 Incident to form the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation, becoming one of the important founders of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation. One day in October 1932, Zhou Baozhong led the army to attack Ning'an County, but the number of enemies was relatively large, and they had been holding on to the death, and the soldiers could not enter the city for a while.
But unfortunately, Zhou Baozhong's calf was hit by an enemy bullet and fell, but he immediately stood up again, endured the severe pain, and continued to charge with the soldiers. Encouraged by him, the morale of the soldiers was high, and the momentum was like a rainbow, so frightened that the enemy soldiers threw away their swords and guns, and fled in disarray. After the battle, several fighters carried Zhou Baozhong on his back to treat his injuries, but because the delay was too long, the bullet had penetrated the leg bone and needed urgent surgery. However, the field medical facilities were insufficient, so some people persuaded him to go to the big hospital in the provincial capital for surgery, but Zhou Baozhong refused, saying: "If you want to have surgery, just order, you can directly find someone to dig with a knife and clamp with forceps, I can bear it!""Everyone couldn't help it, and in the end, they used knives and pliers to take the bullet out of the leg bone. Zhou Baozhong endured the severe pain, and the sweat on his head flowed down drop by drop, but he didn't shout a word of pain from beginning to end. Later, Zhou Baozhong's matter of scraping bones and taking bullets spread in the barracks, and the soldiers were deeply moved after hearing it, and their admiration arose spontaneously, and some people praised it with a smooth mouth: "Scraping bones and scraping bullets is a real hero, better than Guan Yunchang in the past." ”
Since then, Zhou Baozhong became famous in the first war and became famous in the Northeast Battlefield, and the Japanese army's reward for him reached 100,000 yuan, but he couldn't catch it at all, and later raised the price, saying that as long as he could cut off one or two pieces of meat on Zhou Baozhong's body, he would be rewarded with one or two!How high is Zhou Baozhong's status in the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation? In 1938, the Second Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Federation was established, and Zhou Baozhong served as the commander-in-chief and political commissarIt is the famous Zhao Shangzhi. Moreover, the commander-in-chief of the First Route Army is Yang Jingyu. Therefore, if Zhou Baozhong participates in the awarding of titles, considering the importance of the Northeast War of Resistance, he can be awarded the marshal. But it is a pity that Zhou Baozhong became ill because of hard work, and he suffered from a serious illness at the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and by the time he was awarded the title in 1955, he had already left the army, so he passed by the award. Of course, the Military Commission will not forget Zhou Baozhong's revolutionary contributions, although he has no military rank, he was awarded three first-class medals, which is also a very important honor in our army. On February 22, 1964, Zhou Baozhong died of illness at the age of 62.
