In recent years, China's economy has grown rapidly, and large, medium and small cities are expanding at a rapid pace. Some large cities are constantly extending outward, showing a trend of expansion in layers. The built-up areas of the city are constantly sprawling, and the urban roads are also extending along with the expansion of the size of the city, and the length of the roads in some cities has even reached an astonishing 100 kilometers, which is impressive. It's a tremendous momentum!
Beijing's Chang'an Avenue can be described as a celebrity in the city. This east-west main road, which integrates West Chang'an Avenue and East Chang'an Avenue, covers its east-west extension line, is widely known in people's hearts and has the reputation of "Ten Mile Long Street" and "Shenzhou's First Street".
Chang'an Avenue was originally built in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420), when the Yongle Emperor Zhu Di built his capital in Beijing and planned a main street running east-west. This street is named because it is located in the old Chang'an Left Gate and Chang'an Right Gate, which means long-term stability and tranquility.
In 2000, the city of Beijing renovated and extended Chang'an Avenue and its extension. It extends to the west to the east gate of Shougang, adding 12 kilometers;Extending eastward to Tongzhou Town, an additional 20 kilometers brings the total length of Chang'an Avenue to 45 kilometers. The evolution of this path is remarkable.
Chang'an Avenue is an important urban avenue connecting Tiananmen Square, Zhongnanhai, the Forbidden City and many other state functional departments, and is known as one of the most famous roads in China. But compared to the roads in other cities in the country, the length of Chang'an Avenue is not the longest.
In Yantai City, there is a coastal landscape avenue called Binhai Road, which runs from the vicinity of Penglai Port in the west to the Jinshan Port Bridge in Muping District in the east, with a total length of 58 kilometers.
Binhai Road is also known as the most charming road in Yantai. It meanders along the coastline, with the vast blue sea on one side and lush greenery on the other. The road is lined with greenery and dotted with a variety of landscapes, passing through mountains, cities, islands and beaches. It connects Yantai Mountain, East Fort, Moon Bay, Fisherman's Wharf, Bathing Beach, Poppy Square and many other scenic spots, so that you will never want to return.
The Corniche opens up the coastline to citizens and tourists, allowing people to experience the sea up close, and pick up small crabs and various shells at low tide. This road has become a coastal sightseeing avenue in the true sense of the word. In your free time, you can take the No. 17 double-decker bus and enjoy the scenery along the way!
Another road worth mentioning is Furong Avenue in Hunan Province, which is an important artery running through the north and south, starting from Xiangyin County at the mouth of Dongting Lake, and going all the way south through Xiangyin, Changsha, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan and other four cities, with a total length of 120 kilometers, which is completely an urban road. The main road is designed with six lanes in both directions, with a design speed of 80 km/h. The road was completed on December 21, 2016 and is known as the "first road in Sanxiang".
Furong Avenue runs through the center of Changsha, especially Furong Middle Road, which gathers more than half of the city's financial resources and has become a prosperous and financial gathering place in the city, so it is called "a Furong Road, a half-city financial gate".
Along Furong Avenue, large urban complexes such as Fuxing World Financial Center to New Times Square, Greenland Center, and Huachuang International Plaza have sprung up one after another. More than 70 national and provincial financial institution headquarters have settled in, and more than 300 various financial institutions such as Chinese Life, Property Insurance, **, etc. have flourished here, making Furong Avenue a real financial core district in Changsha.
Another road worth paying attention to is Jinan's Jingshi Road, which is the main urban arterial road connecting Zhangqiu District and Changqing District, and one of the main east-west roads in Jinan. It starts from the junction of Zhangqiu Shuangshan Street and Puji Street in the east and ends at the intersection of Chenzhuang Road in Changqing in the west, with a total length of more than 90 kilometers.
The road was first built in 1941 and was originally named "Xingya Road" and later renamed Jingshi Road in 1946. After the widening in 2003 and the opening of the whole line in 2004, it runs through many municipal districts of Jinan.
Jingshi Road has passed through many landmark areas such as Shandong Sports Center, Jinan Olympic Sports Center, Shandong Museum, Shandong TV Station, Qianfoshan Campus of Shandong University, and Jinan ** Business District.
This 90-kilometre-long urban thoroughfare is among the best in the country, but Jinan doesn't stop there. According to the current construction plan, it is still extending to the east, and it is planned to extend to Zibo, 37 kilometers away from Jinan. Once this extension is opened, the total length of Jingshi Road will reach nearly 127 kilometers, making it the second longest urban arterial road in China, after Chengdu Tianfu Avenue.
Another important road is Tianfu Avenue in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, which is a north-south traffic artery connecting the three prefecture-level cities of Chengdu, Meishan and Deyang, and consists of the northern, middle and southern sections.
Originally, Tianfu Avenue was an urban road in Chengdu, starting from the junction with Renmin South Road in the north and running through Chengdu's Wuhou District, High-tech Zone and Tianfu New Area, also known as the "South Extension Line". With the rapid economic development of Chengdu in recent years and the continuous expansion of the urban area, the "South Extension Line" is also continuing to extend.
In 2012, Chengdu put forward the concept of building a "100-mile urban axis", with Tianfu Avenue as the main line of the central axis of the city, extending from north to south, with Tianfu Square as the center, extending the original central axis of the city to the north and south through Renmin South Road and Renmin North Road, running through the entire urban area, forming a central axis of the city connecting Deyang in the north and Meishan in the south.
Nowadays, Tianfu Avenue extends to Jingyang District of Deyang City in the north and Shigao Town in Renshou County, Meishan City in the south, with a total length of 150 kilometers.
Tianfu Avenue connects the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone and the South Sichuan Economic Zone, and plays an important role in the coordinated development of the three cities. With the continuous extension of Tianfu Avenue, it will become an important economic, transportation, landscape and cultural avenue connecting the north and south of Sichuan.
Today, Tianfu Avenue is one of the longest urban axes in the world, but its ambitions go far beyond that and continue to extend today.
On January 6, 2023, Meishan and Zigong City signed a cooperation agreement to jointly build the southern extension of Tianfu Avenue. It is planned to extend Tianfu Avenue to Zigong, through Luzhou, and eventually to Jiangjin in Chongqing, with a total length of about 280 kilometers. If the project is completed, Tianfu Avenue will become a high-speed corridor connecting the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, with huge development potential. 100 help plan
