Three Canadian cities were selected as one of the world s top 10 most livable cities with 100 points

The Economic Intelligence Unit released its 2023 list of the world's most liveable cities on Tuesday. Despite the high cost of prices and housing,Vancouver was ranked 5th in the world, the highest in the country, while Calgary and Toronto also made it into the top 10, ranking 7th and 9th respectively.

Among the 172 cities evaluated, the top four cities are Vienna, Copenhagen, Melbourne and Sydney. Even though Canada's healthcare system is often criticized, many regions continue to face challenges in manpower and resource allocation, and the shortage of family doctors has become a common social problem, Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto all scored 100 points in health programs.

Vancouver scored 97 overall3 points, 97 in culture and environment2 points, 96 for infrastructure4 points, 95 points for social stability.

Calgary overall scored 968 points, tied for 7th place with Geneva, and 100 points in infrastructure, the highest in the countryIt also received a score of 100 for social stability and 87 for culture and environment3 points.

It was followed by Toronto with an overall 965 points, 100 points for social stability, 94 points for culture and environment4 points, 89 for infrastructure3 points.

According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, the average global urban liveability index score this year is 762 points, up from 73 last year2 points, which is also the highest level since the launch of this ranking 15 years ago.

However, the report notes that the stability score in the Livability Index is not expected to improve in the near term as the pressures from high commodity prices, continued chain disruptions, rising food products, and weakness of many currencies against the US dollar will continue in 2023.
