Macau, Dec. 27, 2023 – To further promote the future development of China's wine industry and create a high-profile stage to showcase China's fine wines to the world, Wynn will host the inaugural Wynn Classic China Wine Competition at Wynn Palace from March 1 to 5, 2024, and announce the results on April 13, 2024. In addition, Jane Anson, senior writer of Bordeaux Guide, Iain Riggs, winemaker who won the Order of the Order of Australia, Ronny Lau, former president of the Greater China Wine Critics Association, Kenichi Ohashi MW and Julien Boulard MW, the third runner-up of the "World's Best Sommelier", Masters from different fields and regions, including independent winemaking consultant Madeleine Strenweth MW, Jeremy Stockman, General Manager of Watsons Cellars, Yohann Jousselin MS, and Xiaopi, one of China's most influential wine KOLs, will gather at the event.
The participating wineries will compete for the "Best Chinese Wine of the Year" and 27 other awards recognizing exceptional varietals and regions. The judging process will be conducted in a blind manner, and the international 100-point system will be used to distribute the awards according to the grading system. To ensure the integrity of the competition, Wynn will appoint an external auditor to conduct random background checks on the wineries submitting the wines and to verify the accuracy of the judges' scores.
