As we all know, there are many immortals in our Chinese mythology, and among these immortals, to put it simply, some are born immortals, and some are acquired immortals. And the inside of the acquired immortals, it can be said that flowers and trees, birds and beasts, elves and ghosts are all-encompassing. Today, the "pang" that I am talking about is a very magical existence.
The word "gourd" in the pan gourd, which is read as "household", is the vegetable we usually eat - gourd. And the reason why Pan Gu is called this name is because it grew up in "Pan Gu". So, how did the pan gourd come about?
Legend has it that during the reign of Emperor Gaoxin in ancient times, the country was stable and prosperous, and the people lived and worked in peace and contentment. On this day, an old lady in the Emperor's palace suddenly came to Emperor Gao Xin, saying that her left ear had been swollen for a long time, and she couldn't stand it today, so she came to Emperor Gao Xin for help.
At that time, Emperor Gaoxin was actually the monarch of the tribe, and he loved his people very much, not to mention an old man who stayed in his palace. So I asked the old lady what was the discomfort of her ears, and the old lady said that at first, it seemed like a mosquito was buzzing in her ears, and then it was like thunder in her ears, and now it is even more powerful, like thousands of troops and horses fighting.
Hearing that it was so serious, Emperor Gao Xin hurriedly called the most powerful doctor in the country and asked him to see the old lady. The doctor was really clever, and after seeing the patient, he said to the old man, "You have a strange thing in your ear, and you can only use a knife to take it out." Although the old lady was a little scared, the most powerful doctors in the country had said so, so she could only agree to do so.
So, the famous doctor took out a sharp knife, cut the swollen part of the old lady's ear, and sure enough, dug out a small bug-like thing in the ear. This little insect has a cocoon, and if you look closely, it has a head, a tail, a face, a mouth, and four legs. The famous doctor took out the small insects and put them in a pang, which at that time actually referred to a water scoop made of half a gourd.
Although this little bug is small, it is very violent, bouncing and moving all the time. The doctor was afraid that it would jump away, so he took another plate and covered it. It's really amazing to say, as soon as the little bug is taken out, the old lady's ears don't hurt. The famous doctor treated the old lady's wounds, and she went to Emperor Gao Xin to thank her.
Emperor Gao Xin was also surprised when he heard the old lady finish talking about the treatment. He said that all things are born in nature, there must be a reason for existence, this little creature is so magical, just keep it. The old lady said that since the emperor likes it, let it stay with you. The old lady left happily.
Emperor Gao Xin went to open the plate and look at the little worm. After a while, the little bug grew the size of a fist and took on the shape of a puppy (some say dragon dogs). Not only that, but this puppy also grows a rare five-colored fur, it is full of energy, and its bark is loud, and it is not an ordinary thing at first glance.
Emperor Gaoxin gave it the name Pan Gu. At that time, Emperor Gao Xin's youngest daughter Xin Nu was only five or six years old, and she liked this puppy very much, so Emperor Gao Xin gave this puppy to Xin Nu and let Pan Gu and Xin Nu be companions. As a result, Pan Gu and Xin Nu are companions all day long, inseparable, and their relationship is getting deeper and deeper. In less than a year, Pan Gu looked even more handsome and agile.
Sometimes, Emperor Gao Xin went out hunting, and Pan Gu also went with him. It is extremely athletic and very brave in chasing its prey. Moreover, in addition to ordinary prey, Pan Gu can actually compete with fierce beasts such as jackals, tigers and leopards. While people were amazed, they all liked the pan gourd even more.
About another decade has passed, and this year, Rongwu in the northwest has committed chaos and disturbed the people on the border. Emperor Gaoxin sent troops to conquer seven times, but he never was able to defeat the enemy. The reason why Rong Wu was so arrogant was because the leader of their army, General Rong Wu, was very difficult. Emperor Gao Xin had a headache, and in the end he couldn't help it, so he issued an example of implementing the "beheading plan".
The meaning of the list is to recruit warriors who can assassinate General Rong Wu. If someone can take the head of General Rong Wu, he will get **1,000 catties, divide 10,000 households in the city, and give him the emperor's daughter Xin Nu to marry, and directly become "a court horse". The rewards are indeed quite rich, but unfortunately, no one has been unveiled to receive the task.
The news of Emperor Gao Xin's release also reached the ears of Xin Nu, but the strange thing is that when Pan Gu also knew the news, it disappeared. When everyone thought that Pan Gu had run away, after more than ten days, Pan Gu was covered in blood and came back with a human head. Everyone was frightened, but when they looked closely, the human head in its mouth turned out to be the head of General Rong Wu.
The people hurriedly told Emperor Gao Xin the news, and Emperor Gao Xin rushed to take a look, and was overjoyed, thinking that now the enemy was leaderless, and he would be able to win on the battlefield immediately. But as soon as the joy passed, I immediately became worried again. What is Emperor Gaoxin worried about? So he immediately remembered that his promise had come.
She ancestral painting: Pan gourd to take the head.
Originally, I thought that there was a warrior who could defeat General Rong Wu, so that it would be okay to give him a bounty fief and give him a marriage, even if he was an ugly man. But in this case, although Pan Gu is a divine dog, it is a dog after all, do you really want to marry your Xin daughter to him?
Just when Emperor Gaoxin was worried, good news came from the front, and sure enough, the Rong Wu army was defeated. Emperor Gao Xin was overjoyed, rewarded the soldiers on the front line, and made delicious meat for the pan to eat. But Pan Gu seemed to know Emperor Gao Xin's thoughts, he didn't look at those foods, he was listless every day, and even shed big tears.
When the story comes to this, there are two different sayings, one is that Xinnu's daughter understands the righteousness, and in order to keep her father from losing faith in the world, she voluntarily married the god dog Pang, who grew up with her.
So, Pan Gu immediately became happy, and it left the capital with Xin Nu and went to the land of Nanshan. The South Mountain is lush with vegetation and almost no human traces. Xin Nu kept her promise and started a civilian life with Pan Gu. She took off her original clothes, changed into ordinary clothes that were good at work, and lived in the stone cave of Nanshan with Pan Gu.
After three years in this way, Xin Nu gave birth to twelve children, and they happened to be six boys and six girls. The six boys and Pan Gu look the same as the divine dogs, and the six girls are all beautiful women like the Xin girl. After the death of Pan Gu and Xin Nu, because no outsiders appeared in Nanshan, these six pairs of children became husband and wife to each other.
Later, as the number grew, they formed their own tribe, and after a few hundred years, the people of the tribe also became ordinary people. These tribes are the predecessors of the current Miao, Yao, Li, She and other ethnic groups, and Pangyu is also respected by them as their totem and ancestor.
Another way of saying it is even more mythical. What remains unchanged is that Xin Nu understands the righteousness, and what has changed is that after Pan Gu knew that Xin Nu was willing to marry it, it suddenly spoke.
It told Xin Nu to prepare a golden bell for herself, and then asked Xin Nu to cover it in the golden bell for seven days and seven nights. In these seven days and seven nights, no matter what happens, don't care about it, as long as the time is full, the pan can be transformed into a ** shape. When Xin Nu heard this, she was overjoyed, so she ordered someone to cover the pan gourd according to Pan Gu's request, and arranged for soldiers to guard it on the side.
A day and a night passed, and Xin Nu came to the Admiralty to watch the pang. The soldiers on guard said that dogs barked from time to time throughout the day and night, but they did not know what was going on inside. Xin Nu was worried, but there was nothing she could do. After another two days and two nights, Xin Nu came to see Pan Gu again, and the soldiers said that in the past two days, there was a sound of gold and stone hitting in the Admiralty from time to time, and they were also very worried about Pan Gu.
Six days and six nights passed, and the soldiers said that there was no sound in the Admiralty, and that Pan Gu had not eaten or eaten any water, so he would not starve to death, right? When Xin Nu came to see Pan Gu, when she heard the soldier say this, her heart was already tormented to the extreme, and she couldn't help it, so she asked people to open the golden bell.
The moment the Admiralty was opened, people were stunned. Pan Gu is no longer a dog, and its body has all turned into a sturdy man's body, extremely burly. It's a pity that because there is still one day left before the merit is complete, Pan Gu's head has not changed, and he has become a peculiar appearance of a dog's head and a human body.
Xin Nu was happy and regretful, regretting that she shouldn't have listened to Pan Gu's words, and hurriedly opened the golden bell, but happily, her husband was not a dog after all. Emperor Gao Xin was also very pleased to know the changes in Pan Gu. He fulfilled his promise and gave Pangwu Nanshan as a fief, and Pangwu took Xinnu to Nanshan.
In this theory, Pan Gu and Xin Nu also gave birth to six boys, six girls and twelve children, but the difference is that the six boys are also dog-headed like Pan Gu. Similarly, these twelve children later married each other and became the ancestors of the Miao, Yao, Li, She and other ethnic groups. And these peoples also consider themselves to be the descendants of Pang, and at the same time call Pangwang "Panwang" to believe and worship.
