According to market research firm Trendforce, SK hynix grew in 49 percent in the third quarterThe market share of 6% ranks first in the server DRAM market, with sales of 18$500 million.

Samsung Electronics with 13Sales of $1.3 billion ranked second, accounting for 352% market share. In third place is Micron with sales of 5$600 million, with a market share of 150%。

The market share calculation excludes high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which is primarily used for artificial intelligence (AI) servers. Including HBM, the gap between SK hynix and Samsung Electronics is expected to be even larger.

Server DRAM accounts for about 35%-40% of the entire DRAM market. SK hynix's market share of server DRAM has skyrocketed over that of Samsung Electronics, mainly due to SK hynix's leading position in the competition for module products, including the latest standard server DRAM and the fifth generation of double data rate memory (DDR5).

In September of this year, SK hynix released the "DDR5 Performance Verification*** and announced that its server DRAM DDR5 achieves top performance when integrated with Intel CPUs."

Server companies seek DRAM compatible with Intel server CPUs, prioritizing low-power, high-performance memory. SK hynix 1A (10nm***DDR5 DRAM certified.) The company is currently validating its 1B (1nm 5th generation) DRAM, while Samsung Electronics' 1Z (10nm 3rd generation) DDR5 DRAM has been certified.

In the entire DRAM market, including server DRAM, Samsung Electronics occupies a leading position. However, SK hynix is closing the gap. Market research firm Omdia reported that in the third quarter of this year, Samsung Electronics won by 39It leads the global DRAM market with a 4% share, followed by SK hynix with a 35% market share. The third place is Micron Technology, which occupies 215% market share.
