The event is aimed at domestic high school and university students, international students in China and overseas students, through recitation, speech, drama monologue and Chinese talent and other forms, to provide a platform for young people at home and abroad to promote the excellent Chinese culture and promote exchanges with the world, leading more young people to become the tellers of Chinese stories and proudly speak for Chinese culture.

On the same day, students from the High School Affiliated to Fujian Normal University performed "Our Fujian Story" on the spot, kicking off the event. The students of the College of Overseas Education and ** College of Fujian Normal University sang "Hou Guan is My Home" in Chinese and English, showing the story of China and Fujian.

Bilingual spread Chinese culture and understand China in stories. Xu Weixin, president of the China National Innovation and Development Strategy Research Association and former vice president of the Communist Party of China's ** Party School, said that through the "telling Chinese stories in English" activity, the world will be told a true, objective and full China.

Ma Jianfei, director of the Center for Language Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, said that language is the best key to understanding a country, and the "Telling Chinese Stories in English" activity is an innovative measure to narrate Chinese stories and promote people-to-people exchanges through language.

Guest Pan Weilian, the first recipient of a permanent residence permit in Fujian Province, has lived in China for 35 years and has been telling stories to introduce the real and objective China to the Western world. In his opinion, it is very important to tell the story of China.

If we don't take the initiative to share China's story, the world will continue to hear only China's story from a Western perspective. When talking about how to tell the story of China, Pan Weilian made two suggestions: "First, show the common story of the humanity of Chinese and Western peoples;Second, share Chinese stories that are credible, lovely, respectable, and memorable. On the same day, the "I Speak for Chinese Stories" program was launched on the spot, issuing an initiative to young people around the world, actively participating in the "Telling Chinese Stories in English" activity, and speaking for China with practical actions.

It is reported that adhering to the vision of "Chinese culture, spreading the world", the "Telling Chinese Stories in English" campaign was launched in January 2020, and the first three editions were launched in Beijing, Xi'an and Tianjin, attracting nearly 560,000 young people from 121 countries and regions to sign up to participate. At the same time, more than 1,000 Chinese students studying at Oxford University, Cambridge University, Harvard University and other world-renowned universities enthusiastically joined in, setting off an upsurge of telling Chinese stories, spreading Chinese voices and expressing feelings for their family and country overseas through activities.
