Highways are an important part of China's transportation and one of the common ways for people to travel. The speed limit on expressways is a legal regulation that every driver should abide by in order to ensure driving safety and traffic efficiency. However, there are drivers who exceed the speed limit on the highway and do not receive a ticket, why is that? Was it because of luck that I wasn't found?Or is it because the speeding is not large, and it is not illegal?
There are several reasons for speeding on highwaysSpeedometer error。A speedometer is an instrument that shows how fast a vehicle is traveling, but it is not necessarily accurate. The national standard stipulates that the displayed speed of the speedometer cannot be lower than the actual speed, that is, the speedometer has a certain error range, generally 5% to 10%. If we see that the speedometer shows 120 km h, then the actual speed of the car may be between 108 km h and 114 km h. In other words, we may not have exceeded the 120 km h on the speed limit sign, so we will not be fined points.
Zone speed measurement。Interval speed measurement is a method of measuring the average speed of a vehicle in a certain road section, which calculates the time for the vehicle to pass through the road through two or more speed measurement points, so as to obtain the average speed. The advantage of interval speed measurement is that it can avoid the vehicle changing its speed before and after the speed measurement point, and improve the accuracy and fairness of speed measurement. The disadvantage of the interval speed test is that it does not reflect the real-time speed of the vehicle in the zone, that is, if the vehicle exceeds the speed limit in one section of the zone, but reduces the speed in other sections so that the average speed does not exceed the speed limit, then there will be no penalty points.
The speedometer fails。The speedometer is a device used to capture speeding vehicles, and it is generally divided into two types: radar speedometer and laser speedometer. Radar speedometers measure the relative velocity of a vehicle according to the Doppler effect by transmitting and receiving radio waves. Laser velocimeter measures the relative velocity of a vehicle according to the photoelectric effect by emitting and receiving laser beams. Although the working principle of the speedometer is different, they can all fail, such as due to battery drain, equipment failure, signal interference, weather influence, etc., resulting in the speedometer not working properly, or the speed test result is inaccurate. If the vehicle exceeds the speed limit while the speedometer fails, you will not be fined points.
The speed limit is not large。According to the Measures for the Administration of Demerit Points for Road Traffic Safety Violations, there is no specific explanation for illegal acts exceeding the prescribed speed by less than 10%. In other words, if the speed limit is 120kmh, then you will not necessarily be fined for driving below 132kmh and will not necessarily be penalized. However, this does not mean that you can speed at will, because speeding itself is a violation of traffic rules and an act that endangers traffic safety, and you may receive a warning from the traffic police department, which may also affect your credit history and may cause you more trouble.
As can be seen from the above, speeding on the highway and not receiving a ticket, it may be due to speedometer error, interval speed measurement, speedometer failure, or the speed limit is not large. However, these are not reasons for drivers to be safe about speeding, because speeding itself is a violation of traffic laws and a hazard to traffic safety. Speeding not only causes loss of life and property to oneself and others, but also has a negative impact on society. Therefore, we should advocate safe driving, obey traffic rules, and don't risk speeding for the sake of time or excitement. After all, life is priceless and safety comes first.
