Nanping is an ancient village with a long history, 4 kilometers southwest of Yixian County. Nanping still preserves nearly 300 ancient houses of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and there are 8 ancestral halls, 36 wells and 72 alleys in the village. Nanping is also the filming location of many film and television films such as "Ju Dou", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "The Great Turning" and "Hui Shang", and is known as the "Chinese Film and Television Village". In 2009, Nanping Village was listed as the fourth batch of "Chinese Historical and Cultural Villages".

In the early 90s of the 20th century, the famous scenery film "Ju Dou" was filmed in Nanping Village, which contributed to the start of Nanping's tourism industry. The film and television films such as "The Great Turning" and "Hui Shang" successively filmed in the village have continuously improved the popularity of Nanping and are known as "China Film and Television Village". The village has successively launched tourism brands such as "Ju Dou" hometown tour, "high wall deep alley maze tour", "celebrity monument visit tour", etc., and the number of guests who come to Nanping is increasing day by day. In 1990, this little-known village attracted the world's attention when Ju Dou won the first Luis Buñuel Special Prize at the 43rd Cannes Film Festival in France. The great director Ang Lee also followed here, opening the prelude to the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" starring Chow Yun-fat and Zhang Ziyi.

Since the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the surname Ye moved from the nearby Baima Mountain in Qimen, the village has expanded rapidly, and the Ming Dynasty has formed a situation in which the three major clans of Ye, Cheng and Li gather and rule. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, with the rise of Hui merchants, the trinity of government, business and learning made Nanping an endless stream of outstanding people. In the Qing Dynasty alone, there were 14 people who had served as officials above the county level in the village, and 27 calligraphy and painting artists were recorded.

The ancestral hall is built tall, spacious, gorgeous and magnificent, which is suitable for the solemn scene pursued by various clans in the sacrifice, so that people have solemnity and awe in front of it.

In 1989, the movie "Ju Dou" directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Gong Li was filmed here, and it still maintains the original appearance when it was filmed. Xuzhitang is the main venue for Zhang Yimou to shoot the movie "Ju Dou", and it still maintains the original appearance of the movie "Ju Dou". Stills of "Ju Dou" are posted on the wall of the ancestral hall, and there are shelves for dyeing and drying cloth, winches, and dyeing pools in the ancestral hall. Nowadays, the Ye family ancestral hall has become the "old Yang family dyeing workshop" in the movie, and the horizontal plaque of the "old Yang family dyeing workshop" is still hanging high above the gate that should belong to the "Ye family ancestral hall", and the horizontal plaque of the "Ye family ancestral hall" has long disappeared. It has become a beautiful scenery for tourists to enjoy.

Three vertical plaques are hung above the main entrance, which are "Hand-picked Hanlin", "Qinci Hanlin" and "Qintori Zhixian". The ancestral hall is a three-in-three bay structure, and the overall structure of the ancestral hall is tall and lofty, bright and open. It is one of the larger of the several ancestral halls that have been preserved today. In 1999, the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" directed by Ang Lee and starring Chow Yun-fat and Zhang Ziyi was selected as the interior location in the play.
