UEFA has released the final club rankings for 2023 and Manchester City remain firmly at the top of the table after a successful season with five titles to their name. The team won the Premier League for the third time in a row, beat Manchester United to win the FA Cup, and won their first Champions League title by beating Inter Milan. Their victories in the Super Cup and the Club World Cup further cemented their dominance.
Bayern Munich is a close second with 136 points, still in second place, winning the Bundesliga title once again. Real Madrid moved up three places to third place, while Paris Saint-Germain moved up to fourth. Liverpool dropped two places but remained in the top five.
UEFA Club Points are calculated based on a club's performance in European competitions over the past five seasons, including the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. Depending on the intensity and progress of the game, additional points are awarded. Despite Arsenal's improved performances, they missed out on the top 10 as they did not play in the Champions League for the past six years and could not move up their position by relying on Europa League points alone. The most high-profile matchup in the Champions League last-16 draw is expected to be Napoli vs Barcelona, with both teams in a slump in their respective leagues. Inter Milan, last season's runners-up, will face Atletico Madrid in a tough game, but they are fancied to win the Serie A title this season.
