However, current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is slowly closing in on Ferguson's record. Pep Guardiola has already won 37 trophies in his coaching career, with his most recent victory coming at the FIFA Club World Cup, where Manchester City beat Fluminense 4-0 in the final. The victory marks City's fifth trophy of 2023, including last season's historic treble.
In addition to Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola, other coaches who have won a large number of trophies include Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti.
